BlueBat Overlays... help?

Bought the BlueBat taillight overlay kit and it came today. Got the turn signal redout and the full smoke overlay with holes for the brake and reverse lights. Went to put them on and the reds got on ok with a little excess over the chrome part of the tails but the black overlays, BAD. I'm talking like, a full inch of excess around the edges once I got it right around the circles. It was bubbling and bunching up everywhere and i just can't get them on right because they're way too big. I don't really want to cut them because if you screw up one spot, it's done and I don't want seams everywhere either. I've seen other people with them on here, any recommendations on how to install them? Were yours really big too or did I maybe get a bad set? I'm not about to just give up on these because they were not at all cheap, but it's frustrating.

I read your post and since I know nothing about this, I googled "BlueBat taillight overlay kit". Google results had a Subru forum thread where the guy said the overlays were way too big for his car. It appears you are not alone.

Yeah that's why I bought them because of all the good things I heard about them on here and other places. The prices were a little steep IMO for vinyl overlays but I figured it's since they were quality products. And I saw that Subaru thread too, I read that the guy sent them back so if it doesn't work out hopefully I can do the same, I'm gonna be pretty pissed if I'm out 60 bucks on this.

The overlays are oversized for complete fitment. I've been doing this for years now. Basically, you want to trim the excess after the overlay sets. But for those of you that know me, already know I stand behind me work and have an excellent reputation on all the forums! Shoot me an email and see if I cant help you bud .

$60 isnt much when it comes to any kind of car modifications... and theres nothing to worry about because he will stand behind his products.

+1 i had no problems, and actually would have had problems if there wasnt such overlapping. The overlapping actually helped me in my install.

bat has a large reputation on nissanclub and i've also personally bought from him. Most overlays (I can't speak for all) will come a bit larger because you wouldn't want to be too small would you? Once they are on and set you are able to trim them. It doesn't take much. I was able to trace over my headlight with a exacto soft enough to not touch the headlight but enough to separate the vinyl. I went slowly and carefully. If I had wanted to wait I would have went out and searched for a plastic pizza cutter to ensure I coudln't cut.

+ 1 on the quality of BlueBat's overlays. Everyone in the Celica community loves his products.
I chose to tint my tail lights rather than buy an overlay because I wanted a different, almost custom, look. Kind of like SE-R tails. It kinda looks like mine are tinted from the inside.

Hey guys, I appreciate the support! I've been awol for a good while, been going through a separation and when two young kids are involved, it can be really tough . I'm getting back on my feet and trying to get back to the forums, though Inever stopped offering my overlays . I'm an email away .
