Do you have an SES light? If so, get the code.

A few more details?

you won't get a specific code for a failing MAF, if you have a fellow .org'er in your neighbor hood trying swapping their known good one into your car and go for a drive just to help confirm if your MAF is failing

Zip tie the temp sensor as near to the filter as possible. Is it just dangling in the engine bay now?

Did you get the correct SRI for your application?

Do you have access to a scanner?

I am thinking could also be a problem with your VIAS.

I had pending codes when mine went wonky. I had the same problem as you, gutless in certain areas of the power band, it was the VIAS. I put on a block plate and had all the power back right away.

not necessarily. you could have a bad KS and it will not throw an SES light.

he has a DE-k motor.they dont make block off plates for the de-k's do they?

i have a feeling his VIAS isnt working anymore and he needs to perform the fix which i think included removing the solenoid and applying silicone in some areas to seal it back up. need to read up on it and find out exactly whats involved.

thank you guys!
first of all, whats VIAS and KS?
i bought this car this march and i didnt have this problem until i tried to
install the SRI.... anyways, i do not have a scanner and SES or CEL light does not come on.... If i have a bad KS, how do i make it good? and if i have a problem with VIAS, i do i make THAT better? also, i check for leaks and hoses... but everything looks fine... eh..

They don't have block plates for the DEK you're right... Although it could still be the VIAS, the principle is the same on both cars. (3.5, 3.0)

Either way, the solution could be to repair the VIAS if its buggered.

I think I may be experiencing the same problem. Car has good power up to 3500, then the power sort of flatlines. GAB helped it a little, but it still does it.

to see if your VIAS is working , locate the VIAS solenoid; rev the car manually with the TB.
look under the solenoid;there should be a small bronze lever/rod. if your VIAS is working, when you rev the car past 5k, the small lever should move forward. if it doesnt and just remains stationary, then it means its bad.
to know if you KS (knock sensor) is bad, you'll have to plug a scanner in to see if it throws a code at you.
a bad KS will pull timing from the motor and send it into safe mode , thus robbing HP from the motor.

MAF seems to be a common culprit ... apparently you didn't do a bit of searching ..

, nice thread JACK.

So maybe your VIAS is fine? And it's another issue? MAF?

Also, what's involved in flashing the MAF as I've seen mentioned before here.

Clogged exhaust (cats or muffler) can also cause power loss at higher rpms. You can put a vacuum gauge on the engine and as you slowly rev it, if the vacuum starts dropping off quickly, odds are you have a backpressure issue.

If your VIAS isn't yet broken on a DE-K, then it will be. Do the fix whether it "needs" it or not. You use JB Weld, not silicone.

A good MAFS cleaning is probably in order, or your MAFS could just be bad.
