Fuel gauge calibration?

So yesterday, my car ran out of gas even thou it was showing 1/4 of tank left with DTE of 80miles...Is there a way of calibrating the fuel gauge or the float that's in the tank?

Mine went through this just a few weeks ago. I'd been just dropping $10 in, $20 in, and roaring on my merry way, and the gauge stuck on me a couple of times, but I was luckily able to limp into a gas station, when it started sputtering at 1/4 tank and dte 50 miles.

The next time I actually filled the tank up, and ran it down to empty, the dte and low fuel light and all, worked as it used to. I've filled it up since then, and all's been well. Dunno what that did for me, but it appears to be fixed for now. Try a fill up and run it down, see if that "resets" your sweep.

The sending unit is prolly on it's way out, or there was debris holding the float arm up in the tank.

definitely has to be the sending unit, since it's part of the fuel pump assembly that the float is stuck or the fuel pressure sensor is wonky. Probalby want to replace the whole unit to save time at one shot.
