Bearing Replacement project: Need parts help
I hv decided I'm finally going to replace both my front bearings in the upcoming 2-3 months.
I hv been collecting some coupons and noticed I can get the following pretty cheap:
2 X National wheel bearings - supposed to be the "best" rated at advance auto parts.
2 X Dorman Hubs from rockauto.com - its the only one they have.
My plan is to simply press the new bearings into the new hubs and then press them onto the knuckle.
Local tire shop has quoted $30 to do the press out and press in work.
My question is, I read some threads where folks are mentioning the Dorman hubs dont fit right or something?
Any feedback if the above parts I'm considering will work fine?
The oem bearing and hubs are probably worn out now at 196K and considering I'm getting both hubs and bearings under $130 I'm going to buy it and start this project of little preventive maintenance.

why not just reuse your hubs? i mean if the tire shop can press out the race from the hub, i'm sure they can press out the bearing and press in the hub too?
why spend the $$$$ on new hubs if you don't have to or if you are having doubts?
the only thing i replaced when i did my bearings was the bearing itself.
th snap rings the hub & the knuckle were reused...

Hell, friggin Nissan charged me one hours labor ($80) to press out/in a new bearing. Ticked me off because I knew it only took them 15-20 mins.
Have the mechanic gauge the hub, if it's still fine there is no need to throw money at something that aint broke.

Thanks man. I think our maximas are running super well for the miles we have on them. I just turned over 196K recently. I think I will try to do just the bearings first and if the shop says hubs are bad then get new hubs.

The National bearings are $40 a pop on rockauto and I guess with shipping would be about $90 for both.
The sames ones are also available at advance auto parts and with the deal they have going on right now I can get both for $40.
Not to forget the national bearings have a lifetime warranty. Local store would be a breeze to do exchanges.
