Pre-cat heat shield quick fix
We all have heard of people complaining about the rattle at startup or while reving in neutral or park. I have seen people say that the problem maybe anything from low oil, to a bad timing chain tensioner, to a loose pre-cat shield.
For me it was the rear-most precat shield. The best way to fix it is cut the shield and remove it, but that requires alot of work. What I did to fix the problem was lightly hammer a bolt between then cat and the shield. The bolt just needs to be large enough to create tension between the cat and the shield.
I did this to mine and it completely eliminated the rattle.
How to
Its pretty simple.
Tools needed
Hammer
Flathead screw driver
Bolt
1. jack the car up
2. locate the rear cat
3. Take a medium flat head screw driver and gently pry the heat shield away from the cat. You just need to create enough space to get the bolt started
4. gently hammer the bolt until both the bolt and the shield are tight and secure. You dont want to damage the cat so dont beat the hell out of the bolt. It just needs to have a tension.
Enjoy the Silence

I fixed the heat shield rattle by taking the heat shield off, worked like a charm and has for several years. just dont let your cats get super hot/clogged and its not a problem
