Car not starting, getting fuel and spark.

POST #17 for updates::

Sorry for the long post, but here goes:

So on the July 4th weekend, my motor spun a bearing and was dead. We swapped in a 70k DE-K motor in. After install, car started up, smoked a bit, but eventually ran smooth and clean. Def pulled a bit more than my old motor. I picked it up on a Saturday morning, drove it all day and then made it home.

Come Sunday the car refused to start. Had my mechanic come by and check it out, tested whatever it is that he tests, (i'm not very mechanically inclined as you can tell, lol) and it was showing that it is getting fuel and spark. Tried swapping a couple of sensors with a working 5th gen and same thing. Thought it could have been a fuel pump, since it was intermittently coming on. Swapped it out and same thing. The car cranks and cranks but refuses to turn over.

Checked the codes and pulled a few o2 codes and the Nissan Anti-Theft code. I then went to FL for a month, and came back. So i got the key reprogrammed, and still having the same issue. Cranks but does not turn over. I did search for similar issues, and results ive seen was crank pos. sensor, and cam sensor which i did swap both with no results. Any further ideas as to what the issue may be? Just trying to get some other possible ideas.

Doubt it makes any difference, but only mods on car is OBX headers and test pipe.

try a different key ...when you put the key in the ignition does the security light go out? if you have spark and fuel, it should run...no reason for it not to run if you have both...

if you have a security problem you wont have spark....

The codes i pulled before was the o2 codes (cause of the headers) and that NATS code. I havent pulled any codes since i reprogrammed the key since i dont have a reader.

Update:

Towards the left of the valve cover (looking into bay) we unbolted the two bolts there, engine ground i believe, sanded down the surface, re-bolted it, also ran an 8ga wire (it's all i had at the time) from a bolt near the tranny to the neg terminal of the battery. After a little bit of struggling the car finally started. So we've concluded its a ground issue. Im gonna try a 4ga wire and use a connector to securely fasten it to the neg terminal and post results.

on a side note, engine was also a bit flooded from previous attempts to start it, and it backfired like a dam gunshot at one point, and with a bus stop in front of my house, it was quite epic to see people scatter.

make sure you get it tested, before buying new one. Reason it may be again Grounding issue. may need thicker wire.

check your harmonic balancer. I had a few cars come in with bad HB and intermittent problems. Crank sensor reeds the teeth off the HB. Hope this helps.

car is still down. According to the mechanic its the NATS thats not allowing the car to start. Started a few times, now it doesnt, and the security light stays on. any of you with similar experiences?

It starts whenever it feels like, lol. Not consistent. Other times it'll just crank and crank but wont turn over.

security light!... keep ur key on the ON postition and watch the security light until it blinks and goes off...it shuld take about 10 minz(or longer) and shuld start right up after that trust me on this...and if it starts up after that its something with the securtiy system i believe not reading the key or something

hey what's up. i just put a starter in my car. i had the same problem as you. where it would start when it felt like then one day it just wouldn't start at all. the starter was just replaced 4/28/10 and i was wondering what caused it. but anyways it died about a week ago again and we replaced it and now it's fine. but my check engine light is on. i went to autozone to find out what it is....
they said it is the crank postioning sensor. so now i have to change that when i can.

about your car not starting... i would check your starter again. i'm not really to sure but hey it's worth a shot. i know someone on here said he ground wire was garbage and killed his starter 2 times wiithin a 4 month period. i hope mines isn't in the same boat.

Starter was checked, and car did start a couple days ago a few times. Then gave up again.

i have starting issues with my car also....except....when i go to crank it about 90% of the time it takes 5 to 10 seconds before it actually fires up. after that it acts like its missing for about 5 seconds then it idles great and runs great. ive replaced all the spark plugs and ignition coils and that didnt help although i did see a increase in power.
so im just wondering if anyone has had the same problem or has the same problem as me.

Grounds were checked, now we're leaning towards a computer issue.
