Dealership and NTB

I had to go to the dealership couple of weeks ago and since they were gonna charge me hour of labor I was trying to get the NTB01-018A done to my car. Gentleman puts in my VIN and says he can't do it, tells me to try calling Nissan.

I call them up and talk to a rep, tell her what is going on and she tells me she can't help.

What can I do?

How do you know it even applies to your car?

It's a manual transmission and the car, the whole car jerks around 1500 - 2000 in first and second as long as I'm giving it a light step on it. Doesn't always happen but does happen often to where 75% of the time it is reproducible. Accelerate quickly and nothing happens.

And seeing as how they didn't have any previous record of any work being done to it, I doubt the problem was already fixed.

Just print out and bring this to them:

They will charge you to do this because it's just a TSB and not a recall. Let us know how it turns out.

This is typical "he said, she said" between the dealer and Nissan.

they'll try and get you in this spin-cycle because they either don't want to do the work, or they KNOW they won't get paid for it under warranty by Nissan.

Simple solution: go to another dealership that WANTS the work.

You may not find one -- and you just might get lucky.

TSB's are NOT covered under warranty.

Nissan dealers and Nissan are NOTORIOUS for this.

Does this require a Nissan dealer to do, or can a non-dealer mechanic do this (I don't mean a driveway mechanic, rather a shop that has the latest diagnostic / repair tools). I have exactly these symptoms, but really would prefer to stay away from the dealer (the ones in my area are useless).

Who told you that TSBs are not coverred under warranty? I must have done thousands that were covered.
Your issue is that since it is a tsb it is only covered by warranty till a specific time. ie 3 years/ 60

If it was a recall they would have been obligated to do it.
They can still reprogram for the tsb but you have to pay since car is out of warranty

I've been having this issue in my '00 SE 5spd, though it can occur in gears other than 1st but always in the RPM range given and within a few minutes of startup. Any idea how much it costs to get this fixed?
