Resonator?

I have a little question I need answered and hopefully ill find it here. I have a 02 VQ35 and I have a megan exhaust and i wanted to add a resonator. I spoke to a guy at Pepboys that told me not to because it would throw off my O2 Sensors. Now I'm curious as to whether or not i can add a resonator or not. If I do throw on a resonator and it throws off the O2 Sensors are there any suggestions? please help me out org! thanks

You can add a resonator its not going to mess with the o2 sensors they are well infront of the cat back.you will be replacing the Megan resonator by cutting it off and having the replacement welded in its place.look for something around the same length and 4" in diameter try to get Stainless Steel

Thanks man about the sizing i know Megan is making resonators specifically for the exhaust for like 55$ on ebay.. and now as far as the resonator its self is concerned, im cutting it? i thought the resonator took the place of the catalytic converter?

No sir, resonators and cats are two different parts. the resonator sits after the cat, just before the gas tank. Your talking about a test pipe. That takes the place of the cat.

well if you look at them so called 49.99 high flow cats they are nothing but short resonators i got one.thought i was buying a cat.you might not pass emissions with it.Basically a resonator is going to cut down some of the rasp and drone your going to get from the new catback system.

B.S.!!!!!!!!!! It has nothing to do with your emissions! Here are some pictures of a catback which include the resonator that are behind the cat....I can put the resonator anywhere in the system and it will have no affect on the emissions what so ever!

LoL yea thats what i was told on here.. i was given wrong info by like 2 people and i realized that it wasnt a resonator i wanted it was a test pipe(some idiot told me test pipes and resonators were the same thing). Would you guys be able to give me an idea as to what to expect from a test pipe other than a little more noise from the exhaust?
