Recently I have noticed on My 2000 SE stick that when in 2nd or higher gears when i give it a lot of gas that this rattling sound comes from under the hood. It sounds like coins in a can and shaking them. I have a friend who has a 2000 GLE auto and he says he occasionally hears it, but I can make my car do it. What is it and how do I get rid of it? Its really annoying

number one thing to check...

is a loose heat shield on the exhaust. Let it cool before checking

I don't exactly know what the heat shield is on my exaust, or where it is. Plus, it sounds like its comming from under my hood, so how could it be part of the exaust?

look towards the front of the engine under the 4 plugs for the O2 sensors.... that is the exhaust manifold.. it has a O2 sensor sticking in it along with a heat shield covering it. That could be rattling.
