Xenon headlight theft still an issue?

I'm about to purchase a 2002 Maxima. Saw some older threads about the ease of stealing the factory Xenon lights. Is this still an issue now that aftermarket Xenon's are relatively inexpensive?

Anyone have their headlights ripped off lately?

I'm in Calif, if that matters...
Thanks

Bill

I think it was a big thing when the Maximas first came out with the xenon headlights because they were so uncommon. Now that xenon kits are a dime a dozen, I think it's been a pretty long while since it's happened to anyone.

I haven't heard any reports, anyway...people are going after BMWs and other higher-class cars now.

You should be okay. HID kits for $40 now, as opposed to much larger numbers back then. Haven't heard of a theft in a LONG time.

Much less chance of them getting stolen than back in the day when they came out.

I would think that the newer projector headlights would be more desirable to steal.

With that being said, I have parked in various location in Philly and NYC and have had no issues.

Thanks guys. The car I want just went through the dealer reconditioning process, and it is going to cost more than I thought it would but it will have
-New Clutch
-New brakes all 4 corners
-New oil filter mount (?)
-Two new rear tires
-Repaired steering box (leaking)
-100,000 mile service

I work for the dealer and know the guy who does all the recon, it was about a $1600 service.

So it should be good to go for another 3 years or so...yeah, right!
