Car Shakes HELP!!

Hey guys, got a problem. I have new tires on my 02 max but my problem is that the whole car vibrates after I hit 60+ as it increases little by little if I go higher. I have had my tires balanced, so it can't be a bent rim or balance. Although I am going to another shop to have it balanced again just in case. But someone also adviced me to check my front brakes and said that if my brakes are mostly gone it could be the cause of my vibration and to get new pads. But yea any help would be nice cause it's a pain to drive like this when it's noticeable on the steering wheel and even if your siting in the back. Thanks guys!

Does the vibration get 10x worse when you brake? If so, it's the rotors.

Did it vibrate BEFORE you got the new tires??

If not -- you need to get them re-balanced on a HUNTER ROADFORCE ANALYZER/Balancer.

No other machine will balance MY tires. Many others with Maximas have the same issue.

It doesn't get worse when I brake.. Yea but my alignment is straight and don't think alignment would cause car to vibrate.

ghost how do I find a store with that balancer? might as well get it balanced with dealer..

Just call around and ASK if they have THAT SPECIFIC machine.

Usually -- the big name-brand stores will have them: Firestone, Tiresplus, or some specialty tire/rim shops. Depends on where you live.

It HAS to be the HUNTER ROADFORCE ANALYZER/BALANCER.

Hunter makes "regular" balancing machines as well -- ROADFORCE is the method by which they put a specific amount of pressure or force on the tire, to simulate the weight of the vehicle under load (laden) and at specific speeds while driving.

It makes a HUGE difference, especially on hard to balance wheels/cars like ours.

Every mechanic/tire store I've ever been to -- has said that maximas for some odd reason (5th gen) are particularly hard to balance...and have crappy brakes too!!

Go forth young man, and get thee properly balanced!!

gr

**Oh btw: I ALWAYS pay for a lifetime Balance/Rotate at a shop that HAS a Roadforce balancer -- because my wheels seem to come unbalanced EVERY 5-10k miles.**
IT has NOTHING to do with the Brand / Style / Size of your tires, btw.

Money WELL-SPENT in the long-run.

Find one near you.

Just be warned that its normally about $25/wheel for this type of balancing.

You never answered if it vibrated before the new tires. If it didnt vibrate before the new tires, then it is almost guaranteed that its the balance or a bad tire.

If not, then it could possible be a bad suspension part too.....tie-rods, ball joints, etc. but those are pretty easy to check.

Well I've had the car for 3 weeks now and it did vibrate with the old tires as well but I balanced the tires then at the same store which I'm sure didn't have the hunter wheel balancer. Also it wouldn't matter if the tires were changed I believe cause if they couldn't balance it then it would still shake with new tires as well.

Yes.....true. I would have them check your rims to make sure they arent bent. I had the same problem when I bought my car and it ended up being a bent rim. Then I drove on the tires like that for a while and it made the tires out of round, so I was pretty much screwed. I got new rims and new tires and they are good now. But the hunter roadforce should be able to indicate if your rims are bent as well.

Possibly.....I would typically go to a true tire store to get that stuff diagnosed. But you could give them a try.

Well guess I'm going to Nissan cause they're gonna balance using roadforce for 59.99 compared to other places charging $25 a tire...

Make sure you have them check if a wheel is bent/warped as well

there are wheel repair shops that can fix bent wheels.....the one that I go to here is $100 for a 17" rim, then $25 for mounting and balancing the tire. Look for one in your area. The junkyard, craigslist or ebay can also have decent deals on wheels.....or the classifieds on here too.

Yea I'm gonna start looking around although the nissan mechanic put that rim in the back for now, I didn't feel any vibration on the drive back...is it possible for me to hold off on fixing it for now since I don't feel it an it's in the back for now?

I guess if you dont feel it, why fix it?

The only thing I can think of is that it will eventually wear the tire unevenly, but the uneven wear may actually fill in the bend.....

Yea just don't want that uneven wear but idk maybe if I see a place fixing for cheap il do it. Just wondering since you sound like you've fixed a bent rim before, doesn't fixing ever make it back to the original normal way or will it always be a little defected?

the place that I go claims that they can get it within 1/100 of an inch of perfectly round.

When I had mine done, I still had a little vibration afterwards, but I had been driving on it for a while so it was probably the tire after that point, so its hard to say.

If you say that you dont feel it now, fixing can only make it better.......
