racing seats?
racing seats?
Has anyone changed out their front two seats to racing seats? Not really looking for full blown racing seats but just something that still reclines and gives better support on the sides. what all would you need to install these? I get irritated when I round a corner at high speeds and feel like i'm about to slide out of my seat b/c they have little to no support on the sides. Just curious. and some pictures would be nice if anyone has these.

Damn!!! How fast are going around corners that you slide out of your seat? Auto crossing or something?

they recline as well, had to get custom brackets because Sparco discontinued 3rd gen brackets
disregard the Toyo sticker, it was for a company and got ripped off right after
Nah, I don't do any racing or auto cross. Just when I come off ramps onto the hwy. And not really sliding out my seat just have to brace myself with my legs against the door or console to keep me in the middle of the seat.
Instead of buying racing seats, (which are somewhat out-of-place in a Maxima unless it's full-on monstrous like Roy's car), have you considered getting your seats re-upholstered?
You must be a very tiny person. Either that, or your point of view has been affected by previous cars with sport-bolstering.

I've been autocrossing with my max and never felt like I was sliding out of the seat. But keeping that in mind you have to know how to sit properly when autocrossing. Your left leg should be pressing against the floor where the dead pedal would be if we had one.
I love the look of the racing seats, but my wife would never get in the car with a harness for a seat belt. LOL

i had some corbeau seats in my 01 and had to make some custom brackets and then took them out cuz i couldn't get comfy in them... to tight on my sides!! no pics didnt have them in long enough
thats another thing, harnesses>stock belts to infinity IMO, it feels so much comfier to have 2 straps going vertically on your shoulders versus regular belts
i'm 6'0/190lbs and my a$$ would fly around in the stock seats lol. my Sparco's were sold to me as Sprints but theyre actually Street's which are made for smaller cars like AE86 and 240sx but they work really well
I've thought about that too. I think someone on here has done the g35 seats before. I'll search and see what I can find. I wonder if there's alot of modification that has to be done to get them to fit. I've sat in my buddy's 350 z and like those factory seats alot.
And the sport seats are like a vise grip on your thighs. Very unpleasant, IMO. But it might be the perfect fit for your wee little hips.
I'm relieved to hear we can fit aftermarket seats into our cars! I'm 6'2" and 160 lbs and come out of my seat while driving. I'm dying for a four-point harness, even if it's not a "true" four point system that bolts to a roll cage in my back seat. ;[
I don't know why anyone would poo-poo this. Maybe you (poo-pooers) are crazy enough to think that the stock seats are safer*? I am not a big fan of seat belts--I wish harnesses were in every vehicle I rode in.
I'm currently looking for an aftermarket seat that has some basic functionality such as tilt or height adjustment, then I'll figure out a way to add lumbar support and, voila!, I can ride in safety and comfort.
*Hint: There's a reason all your airbag panels have SRS emblazoned on them: SUPPLEMENTAL restraint system.

Damn man, does a strong breeze blow you over? LOL. I work with a guy built like you and all he eats is fast food.
I was thinking about the 350z seats too. It'd be nice to have something that match my interior. Especially since it seems most sterling mists have the black interior, while I have the frost interior...making it a little harder to match with the whole two-tone theme.
Hey, now! I weighed 175 before losing 30 pounds to depression. (Dopamine re-uptake inhibitors function the same way as cocaine. Yum.) I'm slowly regaining muscle lost in those two years, but I digress.
Yeah, the interior of my Sterling Mist is that creamy tan thing. I'd rather just get a black racing seat than some other Nissan product that will look equally out-of-place, but be less functional. I don't see a reason to install an awesome seat for the passenger, either. There is simply no reason for the passenger to have the same support as the driver, save the safety gains, as they have the luxury of bracing themselves with both feet and grabbing the, er, grab handle above the door.
@Knight: I assume the dead pedal is that piece of metal/plastic embedded to the carpet on the extreme left-hand side of the driver's footwell? I thought that was just there to serve as a handy foot rest... I never thought of pushing myself into my seat with my left foot, using that as a brace. Hmmm... I tried it last night on some of my tight curves and, um, that takes a good deal of acclimation to work right, I guess. I don't think I'm coordinated enough to move my left foot from clutch to ground quickly enough to hold me in place.
Is there any way to test fit these seats before buying them? It's a lot of risk to buy a seat only to find that your body doesn't correctly conform to it. Return processes are never fun! I don't know anyone that has aftermarket seats. Heck, I can only remember even SEEING a seat with a four-point harness once in my life--it was a Civic coupe at a moderately nice restaurant several years ago.

why do you need them? In all honesty they don't belong in a maxima, and in no way is it going to make your car 'better'. I don't understand the rational behind it.
Swapping in g35 seats would make a whole lot more sense, easier to do, look better.

Racing seat is better than stock.
racing seats are comfier and hold you in better, so they make more sense than G35 seats
honestly its not like sticking a 6 foot CF wing on a FWD car, racing seats actually do something
honestly i get ragged all the time on here for having Sparco's but i'm starting to think its because few people actually will pay for Sparco/Bride/Recaro etc versus $150 knockoffs

could always go with 350 or g35 seats
