GT-R Steering Wheel Swap?

Just was thinking about this the other day. I know the 350z steering wheel has been done and the reason I was thinking about the GT-R wheel is it would be a good conversation piece but it's also pretty thick which adds a nice feel to the car. I wonder if this would actually work or if it would even fit. I wonder what the cost of the GT-R wheel is, come to think of it Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Considering I can't even find the part listed anywhere, I'd say it's probably going to need to be a special order. Which I'm sure means lots of $$$.

You'd probably be better off plucking a wheel from a Z. I'm sure trying to wire up all the cruise control buttons and radio buttons would be an absolute biatch...

Yeah, true. I figured it would be $$$$$$ but I couldn't find it either lol I just want a thicker wheel. I was a big VW guy back in the day and the big thing was swapping the R32 wheel cause it had a really nice feel.

Get it rewrapped. They can add padding to the actual wheel, have fresh leather/suede/alcantara/ostrich face put on and you'll be good to go.

I'm going to look into a 350z wheel myself. Eventually. I'm pretty sure you can get them for a decent price... (and I mean the U.S. spec w/airbag so that I don't have to worry about having a "Z" permanently etched into my forehead if something goes wrong...)

Anything's possible with time, research, and money.

But yes, I believe it will...

yeah R35 parts are really expensive, if you have no airbag i would just get a aftermarket hub and Sparco/Momo wheel, a generic hub is around $10 and Momo hubs are around $80 and a wheel is only $100-$300ish

Well of course the prices for that crap are through the roof because they figure if you're going to buy an $85k car that you won't have any argument against paying their over-inflated prices on parts you could probably make yourself for a fraction of the price...

I've had my car for four years.

I've just memorized where everything is. I'm actually glad that Nissan didn't backlight the controls. IMO, I think the glow might get irritating or distracting, especially driving late at night if you've got tired eyes.

I think a JDM (official Japanese market) 350/fairladyZ steering wheel will be best. it includes the airbag as well can be had for under $800. However, there probably is going to be a long arrival wait considering it's from Japan. LMS if I can find the thread where someone threw it in their 6thG.

Courtesy Parts has the GTR steering wheel for only $1,148.00. Of course you'll still need to buy the air bag for another $692.00!

Oh and btw, the manual transmission for the GT-R? Well that will set you back a cool $17,193.00! Ok guys...who's going to be the first to do a swap on a Maxima?
