Carflector (Bug/Rock Shield) - Painted or Smoke

I plan to get a Carflector Bug/Rock Shield for my 02 Max. I can get the smoke color or a clear that is paintable. The Body Shop guy told me they paint the underside (inside area) of the shield since the paintable ones are clear you can see the paint color thru the clear. (price < $40 for the paint - $40 for shield)

I'm curious what this will look like. Has anyone seen one of these painted ? Opinions welcome.

Thanks
