Depends a lot on your driving habits and how hard you push the tach.

I do 85% freeway driving, most of it at about 65-70mph, my onboard computer says I'm getting 30mpg, but my fillup/miles reality is about 25-27mpg.

cmax, that seems low...My 3.5 ALtima was auto, and it would get mileage in the high 20's if I did 80% freeway driving. But I was pretty gentle on the throttle in it as I do a lot of driving (I put 40,000 miles on it in one year) and mileage and reliability are important to me.

I get 23 mpg, with 20% city / 80% highway. Been consistent for the past 5+ tankfulls. On 95%+ highway I've gotten as high as 28 mpg. I have a 3.0 with an auto.

Running 93 octane doing about 70/30 highway/city, I consistently get 21.5 miles per gallon. I have to change my MAF soon as its on the way out so I expect to get better gas mileage after that. I'd say for 50/50 highway/city, your mileage sounds about right. If you're not running premium fuel, start doing that. The higher cost evens out because you'll get better performance and mileage using premium.

This is going to turn into another thread where everybody just posts their gas mileage page after page and doesn't address the OP's question.

The best I managed to get on a 6hr trip, 100% highway @ 70/75mph was 31mpg, 470 miles before the light came on...

Not bad at all for a 7 years old 255hp 3.5L car...

On average, 60%highway 40% town it's more like 24mpg...

On 92 octane my commuting average is 24 mpg in a 2001 SE 20A automatic.
On 87 it's about 21-22.

On some trips, even with the extra stuff in the car and the AC on it managed about 27.

So I never thought I had that bad gas mileage until now. I have 02 Maxima SE its auto. And I fill up my tank and only get between 230 and 270 before getting down to a quarter tank or below. 3 times i got 300-350 before filling up but that was highway all the way to cape cod

I downloaded Road Trip Lite App to keep track. I do mostly city driving and I'm getting about 20-21mpg. However, I need to replace a coil pack (should get here today, thanks Dave B) so I should see a slight increase in MPG once I get that installed.

I was getting very poor gas mileage for about two months. I wasn't able to get more than 300 miles per tank on 70% highway 30% town. I didn't have any check engine light, but I replaced my MAF, and my gas mileage went back to normal...

Yeah the last 3 times I got over 300 on the tank was right before I replaced my air filer, I did not think it had any connection but I still haven't gotten close to 300 since.

Mostly around 18-19 mpg if I only do city driving in the Dallas area. The traffic light timing is horrible and you pretty much stop at every light-my average speed is in the mid to high 20s if I am lucky. When I was in Phoenix, I was getting 21-22 mpg city because the traffic light timing is a lot better. On the open road, I get 25-27 actual mpg although my trip computer will show 28-31 mpg.

2003 3.5 Titanium Edition Automatic. 43k miles.

On the last fillup I calculated 20.9 MPG.

The trip computer was reading 24.3.

This was about 85% in town driving.

I thought was was pretty okay mileage till I read this thread.

I drive like an old old grandma.

Does this MPG indicate a problem or irregularity?

Any responses appreciated. Sending a private message even more appreciated.

1. Take mpg claims with a huge grain of salt
2. Large cities with poor traffic light timing and heavy traffic will kill your mileage no matter how you drive

I routinely get 25 mpg overall. I drive 70/30 hwy/city. I don't have an on board computer so I don't know what the car thinks I get. Bought my 01 in 04 with 33k, and currently have 170k and this has been true the whole time.

I have got ultra-gauge in my car. My instantaneous mileage can go from low 2 mpg (!) to all the way to 40 mpg at cruising. On deceleration, it will go even higher but I am discounting that.

All I know is that my mileage is inversely related to the pressure on the gas pedal. There is no two way around it. If you want, you can get single digit mileage and if you drive gently, you can cross 30 mpg. This is 2000 5-speed 3.0 Maxima.

Best I ever got was 26mpg on a 75-80mph trip from Cincy to FL. I average 20-22 anymore with 50/50 driving. I did get 30+ on hwy runs when I had the front underpanel and rear diffuser on the car. The huge overhangs on this car leave a lot of room from improvement underneath...
