Thanks man. I'm definetely going to grab this. How much of a difference does it make on handling?

This design is pretty generic and you will notice minor improvements. The beefier FSTB's will,of course, be better.

The big bonus is that it will make your engine bay much more attractive, esp. if you do a powder coat.

For under $30 these should be hard to pass up for anyone.

Honestly it tights up the steering a bit the megan racing strut bar is pretty thick by any means your not going to find amazing results with just a strut bar. it all about the combination lowing spring , shocks ect.

FSTB has a MINIMAL effect on handling but for $30, why not?

Huh. I think I might order myself one of these. Even if it does nothing performance-wise, it looks nice and it's only $22.

Exactly this. Every time you see something incorrectly spanning model years, it should make you very wary. Even though it's just a FSTB, and a cheap one at that.

  • Stillen's is an over-priced rip-off. Nice, but not worth the cost.
  • Racingline's is awesomely perfect in both design and cost, but usually out-of-stock.
  • eBay struts like this, flimsy and cheap, are often the only thing available... unless someone on the Org has a FS thread for an old Cattman Ti-bar or an Otto FSTB.
Guys, please... don't start debating the merits of having a FSTB. That conversation exists in hundreds of threads.

The Racingline FSTB (at $97) still seems a little pricey to me for a part that contributes minimal handling benefits. I think one would be better advised to spend their $97 in Moog suspension replacement parts or the like. I'm betting there would be a more noticeable difference going this route.

I always see these cheap Megan/Ebay FSTBs and want to buy one just because most FSTBs look nice in the engine bay. I do, however, repeatedly come to the conclusion that my money is better spent in other realms of car modding.

Very true.

But consider the psychology involved. See, any monkey can install a FSTB. The easy, DIY aspect of this mod gives it more weight when making a decision on how to spend modding funds.

As for bling... the Racingline FSTB is gorgeous and just about the most sturdy thing out there; second only to the old Cattman Ti-bar. Whereas these eBay bars look, well, they look like something that cost $29. It won't look anything like this:

Um... titanium strut-nuts and powdercoated brackets not included.

Agreed. I personally have come to dislike quick 'n easy mods because the fun is so fleeting, but I'll admit that the easiness factor is what initially drew me to the idea (a couple years ago, when I didn't possess the modding know-how/ability I do now).

Edit:: and yes, that is a VERY nice-looking piece of equipment.

Why must all of our conversations inadvertently go in this direction?

A strut bar is a strut bar, just get one off eBay like most of us. I have one and it's fine.

With the pricier fstb's you are mostly paying for look rather than gain. Get the megans it's all the same.

I35 was made in 04 so nothing to worry about it could have cross referenced that as well!

Oh, I know that about the 2004 I35. But the retailer didn't say anything about Infiniti...

...um, wait a minute. I just followed the link again, and they've corrected their page. Go figure.

Do you think it was us, or a coincidence?
