I honestly don't think I'll get past around 12.7-12.8 with my current setup and curb weight once I finally get to hit the 1/4 mile track again. Had 3 track days cancelled this fall/winter because of weather or circumstances, not that I can guarantee any of them would have been 12s. My newer 1/8th mile times from Piedmont in April in 1300-1800DA are pretty indicative of a 12 second pass, though. Maybe with the perfect DA, perfect track prep, weight reduction, PS belt removed, some ghetto tape like krazy6, and a little luck, I could come close to a 12.5-12.6. Maybe. I am highly doubtful that it will happen.
However, I'm fine with my daily driver being in the top 5 NA 5.5 gens and I really don't think my driver mod is lacking, it's just fat. I could probably gain .10 just going on the subway diet like Jared.
Who else was I supposed to name in the thread title to properly mock perkman? There aren't any other 5.5 gen 6 speeds that I would want to "set my sights on"

I think clashez is talking some kind of silly built engine NA stroker with a cosworth manifold modified to fit and custom long tubes or something. Even a bad driver could probably take a 350whp car to low 12s and "beat the record."
However, JayPee did it on a stock bottom end and stock heads/cams. The record can of course be broken with cams and higher compression and/or higher displacement, and I'm sure he'll be the one to break his own record with the BC S2 cams, but the 12.5 will still stand for stock engine with just boltons/tune.

I don't think I spent too much more $, just a difference choice on some mods as far as I know between him and myself that made my setup more pricey. His hotshots were probably cheaper than my cattman headers, and I probably spent more on my clutch. Our tuning probably comes out to a similar price with his TS reflash + AFC vs my UTEC ($500 used). I'm using a vias delete instead of the SSIM like him... It apparently works for him, and I should probably revisit the idea of a SSIM'd manifold. Should also tune it on a dyno, and test a SSIM vs stock with vias delete once and for all. I don't know if that will ever happen, but I can hope.

I bought the Kinetix used for 500, then sold it used for 550. All of my PB times were done on a stock IM with vias delete and with the unmodified Cattman 2.5" Y-pipe. In fact, the 13.0 and 107.5 trap were done without the 3" catback. He is using a L-spec + AFC, A SAFC/VAFC will run you around $150-200 used.

I'm looking for a 109 at some point without any more major investment other than maintenance. It's been proven possible with very similar mods as you've pointed out. I still have room for improvement without any substantial build cost increases, mostly along the lines of what JayPee and krazy6 have done to improve their times (possibly SSIM, some underbody aero, PS belt removal and weight reduction on track day, tune on a dyno to get my timing perfect).
If I'm still on your top 5 5.5 gen NA list, and not one of the MD "crew" that you hail from, I must be doing something right

Could you tell me what these "very best bolt -on stuff" parts are? Teach me how to go fast in a 5.5 gen.

Yep hoping to see the main NC tracks opening anywhere from late January to late February... Pissed I didn't get a single track day this fall, gotta make up for it!
Cams would defeat the purpose of only boltons+tuning which is what the 12.5@109 record is, but I can't guarantee I won't go that route eventually. They are also quite expensive (even used) and easily a 10-12 hour job.
