Haha. It takes a LOT of work to remove that kind of weight. Plus, the VQ engine is about 100lbs lighter than the VE30DE with iron block. That helped a lot. Plus, I will sometimes spend hours just to remove 1lb worth of nuts/bolts and brackets. It has added up over the years.

A few of the major things that have been done to reduce weight are:

Remove interior
Lightweight drag wheels w/ slicks
Rear skinnies
No bumper supports
No catback exhaust (run open Ypipe for track)
Lightweight battery

This Spring, I hope to finally have a manual steering rack and a fuel cell to further reduce weight. Once that is complete, I will need to install a chrome-moly roll bar since NHRA rules require one at 11.99 or faster. Then, I will piece together the interior and make it look 100% stock. But I should only need to add about 50-75 lbs in order to have a full, stock appearing interior once again.

Paper mache' bumper covers or thin carbon fiber....along with CF fenders, hood, & trunk. Lexan windows etc....

The bumper covers and fenders are pretty light to begin with. I may only shave 3 lbs by having fiberglass or CF replacements made. The truck has been gutted with the spoiler removed. It's still functional with the spring rods in place. So it stays open no problem. But the cross bracing has been removed. The hood is still 100% stock with the bracing still in tact. Plus, the hood struts are still functional. I like the hood to stay open by itself while at the track. And lexan windows are not worth the amount of money and labor I'd have to put into them. I will only shave about 10 lbs all around.

Right now, I'm concentrating on reducing weight where it's cheap and easy to do. So I haven't made any fiberglass panels yet. But it's possible I may do that one day.

A K&N dropin filter. That might be good for 1whp, and only if it's maintained correctly.

Why just the other day, my mom called me and said that I pulled on a Pontiac G8 GT in my '06 Volvo wagon. They met at the Wendy's right after both getting some fast food and I opened the hood and he almost fainted when he saw my stock engine. She told me that I really want to take my Volvo to the 1/4 mile track. Even if you don't believe me I'm fine with that?

It's funny, cuz he doesn't even seem to be reading the thread. If he is, he either doesn't understand what's going on, or he has a remarkable ability to let criticism bounce right off of him. I lived in Asia for a couple years and learned to fluently speak another language and as such, I consider myself pretty adept at picking up what non-native English speakers are trying to say. Let it suffice to say that I'm having a really hard time with these posts. I think he'd be better off typing what he wants to say directly into an online translator and then posting that. It would probably be more intelligible.

I would go with progress for a lower and more even drop, eibach for performance and less drop. The more you drop with springs, the higher wear on CV joints and worse suspension geometry. Tokico cheapies are fine.

I had to go look up who this JayPee guy is. He's some racer who hangs out in the 1/4 mile forum. So I bounced through a few of his threads, and... wow!

His cars and his track times are some pretty impressive stuff.
