Question about MAF for a maxima 02

Hello...Would someone please tell me for sure if the less expensive MAF (the one for 87.01$) from :

http://www.courtesyparts.com/kb_sear....php?keywords=[22680]+\(A33B&cPath=1956_1957_1973_1976

1.Can it fit my Maxima 2002 (built July 2001,very early 2002) without the thermistor mod ? or I have to transfer the thermistor to the new MAF ?
2.Does the thermistor itself go bad ?
thanks

You can use that MAF, but since you own an '02, you need to transfer the thermistor.

I am sitting here with my MAF on the table. Used some MAF cleaner in hopes it might work. I have searched/read a bit on this issue. I have a 2003 and after reading, if I need to replace it, I will go with the 2001 MAF for about $100 depending on where you get it. I was just at Autozone buying MAF cleaner and they have a 2001 MAF in stock. I asked to see it and inside you can clearly see a thermistor on the MAF. I read another post this morning that someone bought a 2001 MAF from NAPA and it, too already had a thermistor on it. I guessing here, but I think the companies that rebuilt these are simply installing the $0.93 thermistor to selling as a MAF for both the 2000-2001 and the 2002-2003 model but with huge differences in price. Anyone's feedback on finding the 2001's rebuilt with the thermistor and it being plug-n-play.....would be appreciated.

If you did search you'd know that they're all identical. The only difference is the thermistor. So it doesn't matter what you buy as long as it's for an 00-01.

Really? I don't need your "if you did search you'd know"....you can keep that. But I do appreciate what may have been some intended help. I spent hours reading posts on this issue in various threads...I read all the quality posts in this thread:

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...-pictures.html

I understand the only difference is the thermistor. What I said is that the 2001 MAF at the parts store that I looked at already had the thermistor installed in it. In the other thread, others have seen this happen with a new/rebuilt 2001 MAF's as well. At Autozone the 2001 MAF (with thermistor) cost $169 and the 2003 MAF lists for $348. They did not have the 2003 MAF in-stock for comparison. I suspect they would be identical...both having the thermistor.

He's a bit abrasive sometimes, he means no harm, really.

Seems as if I've been seeing a lot more recent posts/threads verifying this thermistor in 01 MAF's (NAPA, etc, not Nissan). And by all means, if it's about 100$, buy it.

The 2001 MAF can be had new at your local Nissan Dealership for approximately $100. The little Honeywell thermistor is another couple of bucks, somewhere on the Net. That thread you quoted, and others, has all your answers.

Like many things that seem confusing at first, hindsight will make this whole thing much less of a big deal. You'll see.

I'm not confused. Just trying to share that the rebuilt MAF's like at Autozone may be being rebuilt with the thermistor installed regardless of 2001 or 2003. Others have seen this at NAPA and I was addding a +1 to that experience. What is confusing is the ridiculous difference in price.....and that the parts on the shelf may actually be identical. I simply cleaned the MAF with CBC cleaner and all is good. Idle is smooth and I replaced intake with a Blox 6inch filter with a velocity stack. No big difference in sound or feeling. But that's another thread.

Well, good then. You're not confused, your cleaned MAF is working like a champ, and Autozone overcharges for crap.

Seems like all is right with the world.
