Back from Cattmans' workshop...

We worked on fitting/designing a FSTB that works on the 5th gen. and 4th gen.. It should be priced in between the $tealin and cheap bars.

Also, I convinced Brian that we needed another option for an intake. We only have a HAI($tealin/JWT) or a CAI(PR) that requires cutting into the fender. I told him what I would like and he seemed VERY interested in trying to make it. I sure hope you guys want the same thing.

Basically, it's an open filter "Cold Air Box" design like some other cars have. The throttle body to the MAF is a mandrel bent tube similar to the PR CAI with all the vacuum hoses attached. Then there is a 4-sided open-top aluminum walled box that contains a venturi w/a K&N cone filter. The stock scoop will supply cool air through the side.

I think we have everything we need except the box, so hopefully this can happen sometime soon.

Keep designing and more companies may look to the maxima for aftermarket.

Saw them. He had around 20 4th gen. struts sitting in the shop.

They are PINK! I mean it's kinda a red, but more on the PINK side. I thought all the pictures made them seem Fire Engine Red. Anyways, he has the FIRST 5th gen. set ready to go, he's just trying to get a sucker, I mean "test subject", to try installing them. J/K. He is looking for someone to ship them to and try them on(FOR A NICE DISCOUNT!), but if something is wrong you have to send them back and help him figure out what's up.

There is 2-Maximas(besides mine) that are in the area, so hopefully Adam(2000MaxSE) or Phil(DesertPearl) will be interested. They will have the best chance at solving any problems, since they are in the area where they are made.

Maybe the Max is finally getting some recognition in them Honduuuh biased mags..

Just thought some might be interested.

Sport Compact car says all the time that they try to break away from the all honda stuff. They do a decent job actually.

Sport Compact Car

the majority of SCC's first project cars were nissans , which i found very suprising in this honda world. they even put maxima brakes on a sentra.

That's the reason I have a subscription to SCC vs. some of the others.

How much of a discount would I get if I am the test guy? I am good with installing stuff and know whats up. Let me know, I am interested.

He's pretty desperate, so I don't know how far he's willing to go. If he said for FREE, then I wouldn't have refused. I didn't have the money plus I wouldn't bother unless I had NEW springs, so that was an extra $200 right there. Just bad timing for me otherwise I would have JUMPED on it.

I was told(may NOT be the same since your not local), he would pay for the installation AND sell me the parts at cost.

Email him if your interested.

This "Cold Air Box" intake system would be perfect. I will buy one if Cattman makes it. Do you hear me Cattman? I will buy one.

Anyway, Weapon R already has one of these for other cars but not the Maxima.

It will be interesting to see what a mag has to say compared to what somebody that has them (me) thinks. Always wondered how much of a diff of opinion the mags have compared to say a more normal person.

Well that's TWO!! I figured more would be interested.

Here is an example with a scoop through the side. I want the STOCK scoop to supply cold air the same way.

What do you have to say?

Are they worth it?

Do they creak and moan?

If I had the money I would definitely choose them over the AGX/Eibachs setup I plan now.

Worth in terms of the market yes. they do have noises though. Not near as bad as some make it out to be though. I think I know how to fix them and it should be real real simple and only cost 20 or so bucks just waiting to try it, but the car is striped and in the stereo shop again for another 3 months so I don't know when I'll get to it.

He sounded like he was having trouble with his shop(MaxRev) who makes his Y-pipes and stuff, but I don't know for sure.

You should BUY Zachs'(Mr.Burner), since he is selling his car. He has the ONLY prototype SS catback and that is the reason why they weren't release sooner.

However, with the Y-pipe and SS catback it was VERY loud. A lot louder than DesertPearls' Y-pipe w/Greddy muffler. I believe Zachs' muffler was "custom" made by MaxRev, so if you don't want it that loud I would opt for a FlowMaster. They quite things down, but still sound healthy under WOT.

That is ONE HELL of an increase on the IS300 at over 17hp+
But then again it also included a ECU to recalibrate the fuel-air ratio.

Man, does that look sweet. But it sure costs alot at $695. Let's hope that Cattman's can charge a more reasonable price for their setup.

It's Swift Racing and they "cater"(read sucker) Lexus owners. I know it won't cost near that much, but it won't include the ECU either. However, the box is going to be MUCH better quality wise then the IS300's.
