Financial situations change. But essentially that's what I'm doing. Powdercoating stockers for the time being (because I actually really like the look and it's way less expensive), and taking my time to pick aftermarket wheels/save money.

 

wheel choice is such a preference when it comes to sizes, style, ect ect. personally i cant stand a max with g rims, ser wheels. sooo played out, just like the evo-5s were years ago.

Makes sense about financial situations. However once again why spend at least $200 on powdercoating stock wheels and keep that money in your wheel funds? And you are never going to make the money back that you spent on powdercoating oem wheels. Might as well sell them when you get new ones.

If I were you, I would go with RPF1 from Enkei. Light and decently priced wheel. Run either a 17x8.5 or 17x9 or 18x8.5 or 18x9

yea i cant see powdercoating a set of factory wheels unless they are absolutely screwed up, then id consider painting/powdercoating. i'm slowly but surely hating seeing oem wheels painted.

like i said, if they are refinished/painted because they are screwed up, i completely understand. but i like my car looking factory as possible until i throw on a set of wheels. i agree with shift, save the money from powdercoating for wheels...your car will look better without the powdercoating

Ok, so I just got back from the powder coating place. They want $50/wheel for sandblasting, gloss black powder coat... the whole shebang. Where I am here in Canada that's a steal. The other powder coating place around here STARTED at $80/wheel, and everything is more expensive here than in the states. You guys are lucky.

Anyway, I probably will get some aftermarket wheels someday, but for now I'm really liking the "black accents on silver car" theme I've started. I've painted the grille gloss black and the headlight housings are probably gonna be done fairly soon too. And despite what anyone says, I really like the look of the OEM SE wheels powder coated gloss black. Here's kinda the look I'm shooting for: (for the most part)

Nice pic, but I'm still not digging the black. Now, "black chrome" maybe... I think wheels should have some kind of metallic appearance to them.

If there were some way to have a polished lip on the black wheel, but that's not going to happen with the 5.5 SE wheel. It just isn't designed to support that well.
