For anyone looking to get Cattman headers
#201
Saw on the web somewhere that this guy had a 2002 auto and dyno'd it with 16k miles and his best run, completely stock, was 201 whp and low 190's wtq. I dyno'd mine a few weeks back for the first time on a Superflow dyno......2002 auto, cattman headers, frankencar catback, injen intake, NWP spacers and Vias removal, 17' advance on timing, Transgo HD2 and posted 244 whp and 234 wtq.
No tuning has been done on the car and it has just under 125k miles. Guys who dyno'd it for me said the headers make the biggest difference and based on the AFR trend at the time I might get it up to 250whp. I have an SMT8L hooked into the ECU but have not tried any remapping with it yet......still trying to get comfortable with the instructions before I try anything......
On a 3rd gear pull AFR stays at about 14.8 until 85mph then drops to around 12.5 and from there eases down to high 11s at 125 mph.

On Wednesday I sent my ENTIRE exhaust from headers to the muffler to get ceramic coated with the polish coating by JET HOT.....should be getting it back next week!!! Then the install begins!!!
#206
Be sure to post up the after shots, im going to get my Headers Ceramic coated also to keep the heat down....

It was $675 for the entire exhaust...they coat everything inside and outside......only thing they could not get on the inside was the muffler. Well worth the investment they going to last basically forever (especially since Cattman won't be around and you just can't order another one) and like RODMAX said it will keep temps under the hood down so the SRI don't suck up all that heat from under the hood. Depending on how much it reduces heat...I think I may have a way to reduce heat and get some actual COLD air up under the engine..I will post more about that..im still in the designing stages.

ANYONE know if there are anymore group buys on this right now? I'm looking to ditch the possibly explosive pre-cats on my 02 se. shes burning oil and ive heard a few people say that installing headers fixed some of their problem. (we all know its the rings but this will at least hopefully help) really not happy shes a burner. i LOVE this car . Might even do a rebuild if i can find a reputable mechanic I can trust. I also was wondering if anyone knew the HP gains from this with an intake by keeping the stock muffler setup as I want to keep it as a sleeper. At least for now...

My dyno thread has lots of info re: stock muffler.

I'll search your dyno thread but as far as calling Carr an I was hoping to get in on a group buy discount as well

Not really sure but this batch was placed before the news of him selling the company...after these I don't know if there will be more Headers and 3" Exhaust...

Got an email with tracking number.
Looks like I'll get Headers/y-pipe and FastCat Thursday or Friday.
Pretty intimidated, but excited for the install.
I think I'm gonna pick up a dremel for what pb blaster and heat won't get off.
Only thing I'm uneasy about is the o2 bungs...
I've been reading that Spark Plugs defouler works in place of o2 sim?

Decided to go a little different route on the headers/y-pipe. Wrapped them with 2" black wrap then sprayed them with DEI silicone spray. You can see in the pic of the Y-pipe how the bottom is still gray. Once heated (used a heat gun), the coating turned to the really nice gloss black!

No issues at all they fit perfectly on the rear and in the front no need for the holes to be opened...only problem was with my motor mount on the rear had some extra shield thing I had to cut off but that was it nothing with the Headers fit like a Glove.....
#233
I had the last batch, the one where people were saying they had to open holes and stuff, and I did not have any issues whatsoever...they went right on.
#234
One thing on these I had to use Cattmans one use ones, cause these didnt line up, pissed me off for the dough I wasted got to make holes a little wider so they fit didnt have a drill at the time....
#238
I dremeled each hole slightly about .030-.040 " and it fit perfectly!
#239
I didnt bring a drill with me I got everything on but was a nightmare since I had to cut off some extra piece on the rear Motor mount...should of been a 6 hour or less job for me if that didnt happened...

Didn't see this instruction as part of other install info, but removing the rear heat shield bolts is a LOT easier if you remove the heat shield on the fire wall first - 2 nuts. Can get a socket on these three manifold heat shield bolts easily from underneath. Stripped the bottom middle bolt before recognizing that fire wall peice was removable!
Add that to the "wish I knew that before" thread!
