Cat Bolts welded onto the Cat?

Trying to R&R my cat, but when i got under there i simply cant figure out how to remove it. The bolts look like they have a nut on one side and a thread, but on the other side I have no idea what im looking at. Help me please... here are some pics..

Funny there are three threads going about this same subject. That looks just like the cat on my 4th gen. Yes I do believe that bolt is welded to the cat. I ended up cutting the nut and bolt removing the cat and then drilling that stud out of the cat. Mine was rusted much worse than yours.

You could try cleaning the threads with a wire brush and using some penetrant to possibly get that nut off without damaging the bolt. Otherwise you will probably need to go the cutting/drilling route.

its not welded...its a double sided thread stud with a bolt on it to hold it in place...usually when its rusted like that yur better off cutting it off and drilling it out(unless u can get the bolt off)

If you remove those nuts with a wrench or by cutting them will be able to get the cat out, then you can deal with the studs.
Use a Dremel tool to cut the nuts off if you have one.

Reciprocating saw with a metal blade works too. Don't forget your eye protection, whatever method you use.

Its not welded. I removed my cat about two months ago. You just remove the bolt from that side its on. The threaded section is held in place by the cat. I recommend not cutting it off. I got frustrated with one bolt and ended up spending an hour trying to saw off the nut to find it hopeless. I ended up going to home depot and buying these

They're used to remove nuts that have been stripped. It took 10 seconds effortlessly
