I recently purchased some megan headers and I guess I want to replace the whole exhuast while I'm at it. My only thing is that I don't know if I get the megan catback will that be it or do I need a y pipe, test pipe or hi flow cat also. Newb ish I know.

first...didnt know Megan made headers for us

two, their headers dont include the y-pipe?

three, does the headers they sell bolt up to the stock ypipe? if so you can get a warpspeed ypipe and be ok

OBX headers come with a y-pipe so all you'd need is a catback, no need for a test pipe unless your main cat is clogged.

I'd get a test pipe or a new cat. If you're running a stock cat, chances are it's less than perfect after this many years.

Does a test pipe produce more hp/tq than a hi flow cat. Also which is more efficient

Haha, a test pipe is just a pipe, no restrictions.

I really don't have anyone to do the o2 sim mod for me here so how much hp does a high flow cat average

This is irreverent. 02+ Maximas do not have an O2 sensor behind the main cat/test pipe.

hmm.. so if your 2002 or greater and install a test pipe you wont get codes & need O2 sims...

It's only the 4th gen that has the O2 behind the main cat. So, 00-11 fall in this category of irrelevance.

Actually, he will need the o2 Sim mods for the headers he is installing at the same time. Lack of precats will require them.

You missed my point of my originally quoted reply that it is not needed if all you're doing is adding a test pipe.

And seriously, you think I don't know that?

Luvlexus101 said to get o2 sims and a test pipe to add to the header install. The original poster probably doesn't know that he needs o2 sims for the headers.

Ahh, I gotchya now.

I still struggle with this, maybe it's just my car, but my secondaries are plugged in to my primary ports, and there are no secondary SES's on my car.

Myself and 03BLK's secondary O2's have both never complained about not having pre-cats in place.
