03 6 Speed Cold Shift Crunch
Omg man you and morph got me beat,i still gotta give mine a springtime scrubbing and paint a couple little things and either paint or replace my lower a/c lines but i gotta say rochester those little allen bolts you got around your engine bay is a nice suttle touch.

Sorry for the OT, guys. (036mtmax started it
)
I think hes talking about you rochester but not sure cuz we have around the same miles but i bought mine a year and a half ago with 35k on it and it was a one owner non smoker not a scratch or dent in anywhere, completely stock for 9k,and i think as of yesterday i have 66 and change.
Getting back on topic, since changing out the transmission oil, the shifting has been greatly improved. Still can be a bit notchy (and noisy) going into 2nd and 3rd at times, would replacing the cable or lubing it help in that regard? Or is it more likely worn shifter bushings?
My first car with a manual was a '74 Z/28 with a Hurst shifter, sucker was butter smooth and you could shift it with one finger. The joys of mechanical linkage!

My first car with a manual was a modified '82 Trans/Am with a Hurst shifter, t-handle grip, and heavy-duty return springs. You shifted that mechanical beastie with your fist and a little attitude.
Still on topic?

^^^ I agree with you there i think i got mine from Cattman for 20 bucks or so,the ones that go underneath the shifter assembly, especially the ones closest toward the front were kind of a pita but other than that it took me like an hour with removing the console and all,and you get more of a precise shift through the gears and works well with the sts mod.

C'mon, Scott. Get a set. You won't regret it.
Yes, yes and yes. Here's a write-up:

In addition to the shifter bushings, I need an FSTB, NWP block plate (and later, the spacers) and probably eleventy billion other things.
I can enter manual convo's
.... anyways instead of starting a thread about it.... I notice that when I turn the car on for the 1st time it seems difficult to go in gear... any gear... like when I go to work, it seems like going int gear in the morning n when leaving work is the hardest... is it just me?

I have a similar issue when its cold i cant shift into first gear when im slowing down at a stop sign, unless i come to a full stop. I can shift but id rather not force it, so what i do is put the car in second gear while clutch is engaged and put it to first when i need it. I have MT90.
Works great.

Honestly, my car seems to shift best when I am slamming gears.
^^^ Pretty extreme move to just swap the tranny instead of doing some sort of diagnosis first/replacing the cheap related parts.
117k on the original fluid in my car, other than tough shifting when near freezing/below which is the case in most every manual trans vehicle until it gets warmed up I've never had any problem with shifting? Just as a basic maintenance measure I will likely change out the fluid soon, thanks to others spending $200+ on fluid swaps I will probably go with the MT-85.

As dumb as this my sound i bleed my clutch every time i do my oil change and it just seems to have a better crisp pedal feel.i bleed the slave a couple times and then the master.I think im gonna get that stainless braided line directly from slave to master from racetech performance, ive heard it makes a much stiffer pedal from some and others say it makes no difference so idk,but i guess for 40 bucks it cant hurt.If your bleeding yours alot and still have a ton of air in the line you may have a slave or master on its way out.Have you ever put a clutch in the car ?
Things are... different. But every so slightly. The fluid that came out was Redline MT-90, that's only been in there for maybe 15K miles. It was perfectly clean. Had my lower oil pan replaced, too, and that was also absolutely clean, including the pickup filter. Go figure. Low mileage FTW, I suppose.
Anyway, the change is best described this way: when shifts were notchy and go "click" into gear, they now go "clunk". Really, that's the best explanation I can come up with. I don't know yet what it's like when the car is stone cold, or when the car is cold and it's below freezing out (it's Springtime, don't you know). But overall, I like the subtle change, and have peace-of-mind with fresh tranny fluid.
There's Redline MT-85 in my transmission now.

So your not mad at me then huh bud lol.
Pleasing Rochester is no easy thing. 036mt has massive respect for your wife.
I am a big fan of the stuff after it warms up--it's much smoother than the shrapnel that came out of my transmission. Every now and then, I can even shift into 4th without feeling a clunk through my right hand!

No i wasn't worried man lol.I understand everything effects cars in a different way, climate, mileage, upkeep, etc. In my opinion its the best stuff thats been in there so far but i don't think you were having shifting issues like i was so i think thats why i noticed the difference more than someone's car who was shifting fine but ive been driving the hell out of it since my last post and still shifting great with no issues.I got the stuff too because all the z/g35 guys were ranting about it.
It was 45 degrees yesterday when I took the car out for a short trip, after sitting cold all night. Usually, before the car warms up, the shifting is somewhat stiff. Particularly 1st and 2nd, with 3rd being very notchy.
Not anymore. Hmm. Ver-r-r-ry interesting.

About the bushings , do you guys usually do both , at the tranny and below the shifter console ? and do they come toghther for the same part no. (7.1115) for around 20$ ?

Yes, install the banjo bushings on each end of the shifter cable, and install the four bushings underneath the shifter assembly. They all come in the kit.

I scored it my purchasing the car new 9 years ago. I think the cost was about $27,000.
