Bose Headunit Cutout

Today my music started cutting out and it's the first time it's ever done that. I was thinking it could be something with my sub, I just reinstalled it two days ago, but I had it in for months beforehand with no cut out. I've read about the Bose cutout but all I've seen is with the 6 CD, as well as with just one side cutting out; neither is my problem. It cuts out when I go over bumps, but doesn't come back after more bumps, and often cuts on on flat road. And it's not like the bose sub cutout that comes on and off quickly, when it cuts out it stays out for 30 seconds to a minute. The only thing that I've seen that could be the culprit is the worn out wire ribbon inside the unit, but only in the 6 CD. Not looking forward to buying a new headunit or taking apart mine to fix it, any suggestions/personal experience?

I believe there are many threads on this issue, including links to a how-to disassemble the bose and repair it.

True, but disassembling is a last resort for me. I was just wondering if there was some trick to it, or other solutions before I go ahead and take apart the whole head unit.

If I am reading your original post correctly, you said you had just reinstalled the Bose Sub?? and now you are having issues with the unit cutting out. I might suggest for you to work backwards and go back to the sub and re-check the wiring for a bad connection or something grounding out. The problem may be there or possible at the .amp ... just a thought before you start removing the head unit. Is the cut out the entire music system or just the Sub that is cutting in/out?

I believe I was reading a thread that was old but had been revived and it spoke of replacing a relay to resolve the Sub cut out.

All of my speakers are cutting out. I just sound deadened my read deck, so I did reinstall my bose subwoofer, but I also reinstalled a 12 inch sub in the trunk. I have had both working fine in the past. I resoldered the circuit board on the bose sub to fix it's cutout months ago and I never had a problem with it since.

Well the more information you add to this thread, the more I keep thinking you have a bad connection and something grounding out intermittently. You didn't mention in the original post that you had just installed sound deaden material or that you had re-soldered the circuit board. So I would go back and re-check that solder joint as well as re-check all the connections that may have been disturbed during the installation of the sound deaden material ... just me I guess, if something was working fine and I performed some work and it failed to operate correctly I would undo what I had done to re-check everything.

I'm going to go check over everything again today. But I resoldered the bose sub in the beginning of last summer and it hasn't failed since. And that doesn't even seem to be the problem, if the circuit board was disturbed, then the stock sub would just cut out, not all of my speakers, that has never happened before. I sound deadened it last week and the cutout happened last night for the first time, days after everything was ok.

Just trying to save you the work on removing the head unit and disassembling it to get at that ribbon which is to resolve the one side cut out that the unit is plagued with. So re-checking connection is the easier of the two options ... If everything was working just fine for a week and then this problem arose I would fault a connection somewhere coming loose

The connector is probably falling out of the back of the head unit. You're better off just replacing it. There is no sound quality to speak of as it is.
As sparks said, there's tons of threads about this POS.

Mine doesn't even turn on anymore (it runs nonstop, but no display or sound haha). Should be a recall for this garbage with a blose badge on it.
