2002 Maxima Cigarette Lighter, has no power?? Help!

I took my dash apart (2002 Maxima) to see if I can figure out why there is no power coming from the cigarrette lighter and found that all of the connections are hooked up. I cleaned everything, put a little WD40 on the connections and reconnected. Still no power out of my center console cigarette lighter. Also, it seems as though the wire set is the same as the hazard light button and that has power (couldn't be a fuse of that works, right)?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!! Thanks guys...

I would still re-check all the internal fuses, just to confirm that power is there. I haven't really ever looked at the cig. lighters internals that closely but if it has the same internal heater core that is used on most vehicles it is possible that the core is burnt out and needs replacing.

When you mention the core, is that within the actual cigarette lighter itself?

I took the one out of the rear center console and tried to connect it to the front to see if it would work. It didn't. Anyone know what fuse I should check (i guess that is the next step)?

If you havent, start simple and check the fuses. I had a problem with one of my Motorola cell phone car chargers. Everytime I would plug the charger to either cigarette lighter, it would blow a fuse on the spot.. Check for a broken fuse inside the vehicle (I think the fuse for the cigarette lighter is inside the vehicle).

Start with a test light, then go from there

How did you get the panel out where the lighter socket is located? I have to replace the socket and it's got me stumped.

The plastic trim around the shift lever snaps into the console with 4 clips.

You have to remove the ashtray first. Take out the cup that holds the ashes and you will see a Philips head underneath it. Remove the screw and the ashtray assembly lifts out.

The trim around the shift lever is next. There 2 clips on each side of the trim plate. Use a flat blade screwdriver, the wider the better to distribute the force and avoid nicking the trim plate and gouging the console. Pry up the end of the trim plate towards the back of the car first. Work the screwdriver under the trim plate maybe a quarter inch, on the side where the curve starts and pry up. Do both sides.

Then move towards the dash. The forward clips are just a little before where the trim plate starts to curve upwards. Once you have the 4 clips loose, lift up on the back end to remove the trim plate. The trim plate fits in a lip under the heater controls and it might stick in there a little bit. Then you will be able to disconnect the wires for the hazard flasher and the cigarette lighter.
