ebay OEM "style" tail lights, '01 SE style?

So, I really need the get some '01 SE style "blackish" tail lights for my '02 GLE. I was looking on ebay and found the 3 auctions below. Seems pretty decent for a pair of brand new "OEM" tail lights, but they are not true Nissan from what I can see, but aftermarket reproductions of the true OEM style. Would you, or has anyone bought these, or should I just look for a part out or junk yard?

I bought the same ones from the same person on the first link 2 years ago and I haven't had a problem with them. They actually come with the 02-03 harness if I can remember correctly.

OK, cool. So you think the quality and appearance was as good as stock? Seems like a decent deal to me, especially new.

I bought aftermarket "OEM style" tail lights on eBay for my girlfriend's TL before. The appearance and fitment is nothing to complain about but, I have to say that the outside material tends to scratch easily. If you look carefully in the sun you're able to see hairline swirl scratches.

Just keep in mind these are aftermarket and as long as your car is garaged, you'll be ok. Some of these makers of aftermarket use cheap plastic and as such they fade sooner and scratch easily. But they do look good in the beginning.

Same here, the brand of tail lights is called "Eagle Eyes" and they did have the right harnesses for 02-03 Maxes.

I have done a few side by side comparisons and the only real difference is the texture of the "carbon Fiber" other than that they are pretty much dead on accurate. They seem to wear pretty well too, even automatic car washes don't seem to scratch them.

Heres a pic of them on my car from a few months ago:

My car has never been garaged and its been through all kinds of weather(except for snow) and they still look brand new. But if you have a garage, why not use it .

Well, I wish I saw some of these posts a few hours ago, but already purchased. No garage, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I probably could've waited and found a pair cheaper or used to swap with somebody, but I just got my tax refund and I am kind of impatient. Hopefully looks good, has to look better than what I have now. I'll have to park next to another stock Max and see how they look side by side.

Loved the smoked tails on my grey lustre '02, not sure how they'd look on sandstone metallic or whatever the color is called that my new '02 is. Traded the smoked ones for a pair of '00 red tail lights and $50 anyway.

The smoked tails weren't OEM either and held up fine for the year I had them and my car was outside 24/7.

so here's the million dollar question (or $83.69 I guess). Got my lights in today and removed the 4 screws holding tail lights in, but is there any trick to getting them to come loose from that sticky tar sh*t???

There is a sealant around them that you may have to use a heat gun or hair dryer to loosen before you'll be able to pull them out. I then used something to push gently on the little bolts and they came out.

Just push on the bolts from inside the trunk and the lights should pop out. Wiggling them back and forth helps. If they are really stuck then a light tap on the bolts with a rubber mallet will loosen them up.

OK, just took a bit of muscle I guess. I ended up cracking the plastic piece on the inner part of the old lights trying to pry them out with a flat head screw driver, but I'm not overly worried about it. Didn't help that it's about 40 outside, summer probably would've been much easier. Anyway, thanks for the help, here are a few pics. My wife likes the chrome outsides better, but I can't stand the amber lens. I'm happy, now looking for a Grey Lustre OEM spoiler.

Yeah it was definitely the low temp that made them hard to remove. Looks good, just loose the Coastal sticker and license frame and it'll look clean. I have an 02 GLE as well and switched from the chrome to black tails. My wife liked the chrome better too, I guess they just like shiny things.

I would debadge the trunk as well. And honestly, I would leave it wingless. My biggest regret with my Maxima was my first mod, putting a G35 spoiler on it. The look of a wingless GLE with a little bit of a drop is pure sexiness.

Just my two cents though, take it for what it's worth. Your car looks very clean.

Yeh, only had the car for two weeks and the coming warmer weather will give me the motivation to get a lot of little things done. Badge looks like crap. I do agree it looks great with a drop, but the car rides so great right now (comfort-wise), that I am scared to lower it or go w/ bigger wheels and lower pro tires. The thing that pisses me off the most is that I fell in love with all the Maxxtuning lips I was seeing on the forum only to find out it is not possible to buy. Definitely prefer over stillen too.
