wheel upgrade question

I just upgraded to 18" wheel and the wheels are resting only on the 5 studs instead of the hub. Is this safe and will it cause any problem?

That doesn't seem safe.

Is it because the bore is too small on the new wheel or because your studs are too long for your lug nuts? That will freak up your wheel if you drive around on it like that for any length of time. Happened to me once. The stud mauled the stud hole in the wheel, and after that I could never get rid of the vibrations.
Needed to get a new wheel.

I would try and see what you can do to make it fit correctly.

It should fit fine then. If the bore is too big on your wheel, your wheel should slip right on the bore on the car. What's preventing it from sitting flush?

Are you sure you got the correct bolt pattern? (5x114.3)?

bolt pattern fits fine. but since the bore on the wheel is bigger than the hub it is no longer being support by it.

get some hub centric rings. they take up the space between the hub and the ring to center the rim perfectly..

Sounds like the center bore is too small and isn't going onto the hub. I had that problem with some rims I bought off of a Camry a while ago for the winter.

Like cmax said, hubcentric rings. They are meant for wheels with a larger center bore, typically aftermarket wheels to remain universal, to match with a hub.
