NWP!!

I plan on buying a torque bracing kit for my maxima. The fact that it links the engine to my chassis make me a bit weary seeing as how my car is a daily driver. I've done some research and havent found any staright foreword answers, any suggestions would be great. Please help me out fellow maxima "devionalists"!

PM Rochester as he owns one, and has only expressed great things about it.

Nah, don't do that. Everything I have to say about the Torque Link I've already said here on the org.

I had mine for 5 months of daily driving, then removed it 3 months ago for winter. Can't wait to put it back on.

Search, OP, search...

Actually, I have read some onf things you have had to say which did inspire me to buy it. Another thing is that I have searched and found some answers to some questions i had not asked myself at the time of my searching. I honestly appreciate everyones input, your links, and suggestions have all been awesome. The thing is, I wasn't clear with my question to all of you. I just want to know if my chassis is going to suffer any damages due to long term use. VQ35 engine is a heavy one and using a torque kit to hold it back towards the firewall for too long, well, I dont know what my chassis would suffer, if any suffering were to occur..

It's a newer product, no LONG term (5+ years) usage has been achieved.

I got mine - installing it next week...

I know Aaron is the one who owns NWP and distributes his stuff but the fact is that his kit is on a different gen maxima than ours.. **** it im convinced.. ill just buy it..

Thanks because I saw Aaron hadn't replied to anything for awhile so i thought he had abandoned the thread. All I had to do WAS look a little harder. Again thank you

Not that I've observed. And after having it for a while, I don't have any fears of that ever being a problem. But that's just a gut feeling, nothing more.

This.

Stormz... wait until you see what I'm doing with the Torque Link when it goes back on. Stainless steel, full height retaining nuts... powedercoated brackets in Black Chrome... polished titanium buttonhead M6 bolts and washers. It's going to look awesome. (Or I'm going to be really disappointed... we'll see.)

Don't think the stress from the torque will crack the powdercoating?

Ha ha! No.

Wait... are you serious? (I can't tell.) There's no "twist" to the bar or the brackets. The stress is all lateral down the shaft.

Or, that's what she said.

But on the off chance the powdercoating gets all fukd up, then I'll do something else. No biggie.

Energy suspension motor mounts are pretty nice too if you are a DIY kinda dude. They aren't hard to install if you have access to a shop press/bench vice. They really tightened up my engine's torque movement.

Not me. There are serious freaks out there with engine dress-up, but me, I just dabble. If I were serious, I'd throw big money at it, rather than little details like this.

But I enjoy the little details.

Right now I just want winter to freaking end. Feels like I'm losing my mind with these snow tires and what-not.

Twist/compression shouldn't matter, its the impact on it as the engine moves that could cause it to be weak overtime. Just a theoretical thought/question. Not like powdercoating it will be expensive.

It's a valid question. IDK, really. If it's going to be a problem, I guess I'll find out mid-year, or thereabouts.

You're welcome. And that's a nice thing to say and all, but believe me... you're reading too much into it. I don't know jack about engineering. Not a thing. For all I know, the torque link might just rip right apart someday.

Enjoy your mod. And try not to freak out too much with the NVH.

First let me agree with Rochester, it's highly unlikely that this mod (especially combined with ES mounts) will cause any long term chassis damage. I had ES mounts before installing mine and noticed no increase in vibration, but a slight increase in engine sound inside the cabin. Nothing major.

The little things are what counts the most. Just throwing money at an engine bay doesn't matter nearly as much as getting all the details perfect. Wish I was that meticulous, I love a nice looking engine bay.

I've had it for about 8 9 months. No issues

In direct response to Stormzusmc... I'll bump this NWP thread, too. Time will tell how the powdercoating holds up during 2011. Obviously, it's not on the car right now.

Anyway, here's my newly powdercoated torque link connector, with titanium hardware:

And here's the original photo taken when bought last summer:

I said it once and I'll say it again...You sir, are a MONSTER! .

I've been researching the torque link for a while now. I just bought a crib and a pit so all mods are on hold for now. But I'm curious to see how this thing performs.
