Seats: My quest for something more delectiable.

I have an 02 with 111k on the clock. It's and SE with cloth.

The seats are f!cking garbage. 2 hours into a trip and my tailbone/*** are pissed. I start moving the seat up or down and recline it forward and back, but it is the same.

Are the leather seats for the 02-03 any better?

Can I find seats from an Infiniti and get them to work?

Would seats from a newer year fit into an 02-03?

Right now as it sits, I am almost thinking about finding someone to re-upholster my seats.

Thoughts?

I didn't find the stock cloth seats to be bad in terms of comfort. I just did the leather conversion because I preferred it. I don't anticipate the leather being any more comfortable per say....as far as I know, they have the same rails, and cushions....it's just the leather vs cloth that'll be different.

Yeah, something must've went horribly wrong with your Max.

The seats I have had in both my '02 and '03 are extremely comfortable.

As far as alternatives, some people have swapped in G35 Coupe seats. They take a little bit of MacGuivering, though.

What kind of MacGuivering?

There's a few things that went wrong with my max.
Cats are plugged(the symptoms are there)
Fuel door release broke(the solenoid works, but the part that moves stuck) so my fuel door hangs open
the seats are terrible(driver, pass, rear)
It uses oil
the exhaust rattles
Either the amp or the deck are junk
brakes are warrped since I got rear ended.

I'm going to get it all fixed though

It's prob more than you will want to spend, but I recently got corbeau lg1 black leather seats and they're amazingly comfortable! Plenty of back and *** support and they look great.

Is there a lot of work required to do that? I can handle doing some cutting and grinding, but I don't have a welder in my garage.

can someone please do a write-up on this, I have read around and know that a z33 touring, altima se-r, or g35 seat swap would be much loved and no one seems to have a diy up. Who's done it and would be willing to take up this burden??

Buy me the seats and I'll give you a write up. Part of what I do for a living is document work instructions.

I believe there have been threads where someone swapped G35 seats... but I'd probably go after market if I did a seat swap.

I don't have the cloth seats, but my only complaint about the heated leather seats is that they offer very little lateral support and weigh over 40 lbs each.

G35 Coupe seats would be sooo nice. I'd love to see some pics of that install, do they make the proper colour for tan for the G35 though? I though they were all black?

Sparks you just want lighter seats that's why you'd go aftermarket, the OP wants comfort. The G35's are a wicked idea for support AND comfort. I don't imagine you could come across a set too cheap though.

And I hate to be the one to say it OP, but you should forget your dam seats for now, that list has WAY more important things on it then how comfortable you are. Deal with that after you fix some necessities.

I direct swapped i35's as a lot of people have before. While the design looks the same I swear they are the slightest bit more comfortable

Maybe its the infiniti letters caressing my back

I can't find the technical term for the release in the fuel door, the part that catches the door by the fuel cap(I broke it)
New cats are in my garage
I am window shopping seats
Oil usage seems to be common
Amp will be here Monday
Brakes are in my garage

Fuel door latch
Let me clarify, I can't find the part from courtesy Nissan. What ended up happening was that my door was stuck shut. Yes, I did pull the carpet down and try to open it manually. I don't know what happened, but that plastic slider thing inside of the fuel door was caught on the latch so I can to pop it open with a butter knife/flat head. Now the door does not close. the solenoid works, but the little finger thing inside that catches the door is missing. It took flight with the pressure I had to get it to pop open

I did try google as well as ebay and can't find the part.

OH the tab that mounts to the fuel door? I don't know if it's replaceable, but you want to hit the junkyard for that. 2000-2003 should work, it can be hard to find 02/03's, but you should be able to find a 2000 or 2001 pretty easy.

Let us know what you figure out for seats, I'd love to see a g35 install.

I believe the part you're looking for is the "fuel lid opener actuator." It looks like it's only sold as an assembly. It looks like it goes for about $100 at Southpoint. pn 78850-5Y700 or alt pn 78850-5Y70A.
