Performance Nissan Quest!
Performance Nissan Quest!
My parent's POS nissan quest wouldnt start the other day, so naturally they had me take a look at it. For those of you who dont know, the van has the VG30DE engine, which is the same as the 3 gen maxima engine (which makes this post on topic). I opened the hood to find corroded battery terminals. Well anyway I cleaned up the battery, shineyed up the terminals and clamps and charged the battery. So far so good. But, while I was in there I noticed that the air filter box was badly warped, and infact there was a huge split at where it clamps together! I posted on the usenet newsgroups if anybody else had this problem and it seems like people do, with the box not completely shutting. Upon further investigation, the air filter was 1/2 way folded inside the airbox and the MAF screen was covered with crap. This could not be good. This means crap got sucked all into the engine. I tried to reposition the filter with no luck, the box was warped and it just wont seal. So, then I cleaned out the throttle body, which was really really really dirty. I'm probably going to change the oil next seeing as the motor has been sucking in dirt.
What was my solution to the airbox problem? Well I remembered that my Maxima has a MAF cone adapter for a 300z. Its holes do not line up to the maxima's MAF, but I have it ghetto held in place (with office binder clips). I dont know my 300z stuff too well, but doesnt the 300z use the VG30DETT engine? or was it the VE? Well in any case, I lined up the adapter to the Quest's MAF and sure enough, the bolt holes were right on. So you know what this means. K&N cone filter for the nissan quest! Do a 6 speed conversion from a 300z and a turbo swap and I'll be game!

VG30E is in the Quest and Maixma, Not the DE!
if it were the DE it be ~220hp(ala na Z32)
if it were the DE it be ~220hp(ala na Z32)

Pathfinder. Might be Quest too, but I'm pretty sure the Quest was only a 3.0 Liter.

Realizing that my mom has a quest also makes this also so funny! She had the same corrosion on the terminals, but they got to far and ate the wires away. The quest(1998) is a 3.0 VG30E and the newer 99+ is the newer VG33. The really wierd thing about his is, the van is really quick pickup for its wait! If you try hard enough you can hit redline in every gear. w00t
Anyway, off to seinfield.

Not bad, but I think I also want to know whether your name is supposed to resemble "audacious"? It's a little intriguing.

Around 7 years ago, while setting up with my current ISP, I was at a loss as to what name to use. Being heavily into car audio at the time, I made up audtatious.
Kind of a PITA when telling people my eMail address, but, it is deffinately different
