Lost to GS400

my friend who has a GS400 came back from college for the break and he brought his 2000 Lexus GS400 with him, and since i recently put in nitrous in my car (60shot) i decided it would be interesting to race him. we found an open stretch of road and we got flagged and both hit it, he immediately took my off the line, but i was at his rear wheel, once i hit 3500rpm i hit the swtich, i cant say i pulled on him, i stayed exactly where i was relative to his car all the way through, but once we hit about 80 he slowly walked away.
i have an automatic, so thats probably why i lost, i could feel the tranny losing power between shifts, maybe with a VB Mod i woulda done better. i only have an intake and nitrous at the moment, ill wait till i get exhaust and vb mod and ill try him again.hehe

p.s. sorry for the long post.

That's pretty good. I know they run 5.9 0-60, which should be about mid to low 14s in the Quarter.

How can a 2k2 6sp which does around 14.3 1/4 looses to a 14.4 car?

at high speeds Torque matters more than horsepower..

GS 400's can run with transams and lightnings at high speeds.. but off the line they are toast

i think u mean that horsepower matters more than torque at high speeds, but if what u said is right, then ive been thinking the wrong way the whole time.

with all the power/torque ratio being the same, the GS400 should have a slight edge over the Maxima. just because of the drive-train. A RWD will almost always launch better than a FWD.

around town the lighter maxima will beat the GS even though it has more HP, but once you get up to speed weight matters less and raw power numbers matter more. 300hp and 310tq is what matters to the GS and the air it's pushing through.

i raced a GS400 from around 80mph. we were exactly the same until we hit about 115ish mph. he then started to walk away. i knew it was going to happen cause my car starts to die when it nears 120mph. i have a 2k auto SE w/ intake, y-pipe, muffler, but most importantly, my clear side markers.

Umm, torque matters from a stop. HP is what determines top speed. What mods do you have sprintmax that you can beat a gs400 by 3 car lengths?

If I dropped that much cash on a GS 400 and could only pull one or two cars and mostly after 80...I would be ****ed.

Gotta luv the Max.

how about a SC max?

i was wondering if a supercharged max can beat a GS400... if not, what's the point of getting a SC?!?!

i lost to one a while back, but not by much... i was hoping that a SC would change that...

so how about it? would a SC change the results of the race against a GS400?

ya a modded 4th gen auto with a s/c shold be able to hang with one if not at stock pulley size.

Auto SC Max is going to get walked by a GS 400 at high speeds.. remember.. the original poster has a 60 shot Auto max.. and a 60 shot Auto Max will cream all over an SC Max.. you may have to touch 9 PSI or higher to start walking GS 400's
