Cutting out when driving??

Please help.
Before I replace everything, any ideas of something obvious.
My 02 Max 6 speed just died the other day when driving, I engaged the clutch, the lights didn't come on so I suspect the engine was running.
The clock is correct, so no battery issue.
After about 1/2 mile of coast, on, coast the engine started running fine.

There was no popping or puffing like a fuel starvation issue, no over heating, no engine light.

200k miles. I am suspecting a throttle position sensor or the like???

Maybe a cam/crank pos. sensor is on the way out.

I'd look at the camshaft/crankshaft position sensors first. Just because you don't have an SES light doesn't mean you don't have any stored pending codes.

+1 on the cam/crankshaft sensors. I had the same problem of the engine intermittently cutting out. At first there was no SES light, but you'll probably get one eventually.

Same thing happened to me. Once the SES light came on I got the code and it ended up being the rear (bank one) camshaft position sensor. I swapped it out and everything was back to normal.

Just bought my 2k2 Maxima SE with 96k...when the car turned off on me on a red light on the second day of driving..I started to think..this private seller got over on me..it started back up and rerouted to Autozone to realize that the Camshaft/Crank Sensor codes came up....I hit the internet and found out that these 2002 Maximas had a few recalls...didnt hurt to call Nissan North America with my VIN#...and BAM!!Three open recalls...Accelerator Pedal....Transverse Link....and drumroll please....Crankshaft Sensor!!! I made an appointment for tomorrow at Star Nissan in Queens to repair these at NO CHARGE!!..I will however have to shell out for 2 Camshaft Sensors...their price are $96.00 for one, $70.00 for the other...dont know if these Camshaft Sensors are an easy fix or should I let the dealership guys come up with an astrological number for labor cost??

Buy the camshaft sensors yourself, pretty easy to install. Great access to bank 2 (radiator side), airbox has to come out to access the bank 1 sensor. 1 electrical clip and 1 bolt to remove for the sensors themselves.
