Does it do this on a wam start? On a cold start mine does this as well. It might not be a problem.

Mine does that too, but only when the engine is cold. When the engine is warmed up, if i restart it, it starts without going to 2.5K RPM.

As for the knocking noise, nothing like that here.

I had the same problem (would spike to about 2000-2100) at start up. After I replaced my spark plugs (looong overdue, at 127k) I have not experienced the same spike with a cold start.

The dealer installed a new IAVC and MAF a few years back under warranty and the tech worked on my car for about 4 hrs trying to relearn the idle and start up the car under 1500 rpm and I have a good solid 650-700 idle but when cold it starts and revs to 2K and then 1K as it warms up...sounds like a racecar especially with the 3" Cattman w/Headers......I think it will eventually cause alot of wear and tear on the ring during that dry start rev'up.....I just went to the dealer regarding that this past weekend and it's still doing it.....The plugs and coilpack are gonna be done the week after next, I'll see if changing the plugs will cure this, but I really doubt it.....

So, what do the RPM's settle to down warmed up, that's the real question.

Mine does the rev-up on a cold start occasionally (almost 167,000 miles). Not an issue, I don't think.

It could be an issue with your IACV, or your ECTS.

Do you have any codes?

thats oddly high even for a cold start...the highest mine would ever go to during cold start was 1500 rpm max, and my warm idle was fine (700ish)

its only at a cold start, it comes right down to about a 800 idle... and after the motors warm it doesnt do it. i was just wondering if it was a problem or not, im only at 78k ... so im thinking maybe its time for a full tune up... but im not too sure. ill get back to everyone after i do that, and other then plugs, coils, and belts, what else is some stuff you guys recommend? fuel filter? headlight fluid? lol just asking
im new to this whole 3.5 electronically controlled engine stuff... im used to my good ol VG
