Wider rear tire size on 18" 350z rim

I was curious to know the widest tire you can fit on the rear of a max with 18 inch 350 wheels without rubbing or looking odd with a slight drop maybe 1.3, I have 245 40's and was thinking about a 265 ? Thanks for any input.

My 245/40/18's on z rims comes right to the inside of the fender lip. I've got an Eibach drop. On bad dips I have experienced slight rubbing, typically when one rear side goes down (dip on one side of car). If you are talking about 265/40's, I think you'll have to raise the car, not lower it...it will be too tall. Think of it as becoming 40% of 265 (189) instead of 40% of 245 (175).

*Understand I'm not saying this is a "literal" calculation of sizes...only giving a numerical comparison indicating that the 265/40 is going to be taller, and given a drop, you will have no where for that tire to go considering the offset of the z rims.

What width and offset are these wheels? As we all know, there are a slew of Z33 wheels out there.

18X8 AND 18X8.5 yields a 245 tire...i had 265/30/19s on my 5th...rubbed when i hit bumps while i was riding real low on them...cut my tires, etc...but i'm guessing you are on a spring/strut setup...when i had my spring struts on those same tires no issues that a rolled fender couldnt fix....

but to answer your question, stay w/ the 245...get a 45 profile if you want to fill the gap

Not a great picture due to the shadow being casted. But, there are a lot of great examples of the wheel/tire stance with the 350z rims and various tire sizes. This image is BEFORE the Eibach drop.

I mentioned my 245/40/18's on Z rims in the original post.

The lip and skirts? I plan to have the car painted in the next year or two. Since the car has been repainted by some quack painter at some point, I'm not convinced getting the factory color would actually match up and look right. So, instead of doing a botched job trying to match the paint, I decided to go a different route. I felt that black was too much contrast. So, I decided to go with a dark gray/storm gray. That pic doesn't do it justice. IMO, it looks better in person. When the car is painted it will all be matched.

I'd stick with the 245/40's, that what I had with a 1.8"
Drop front and rear, it only rubbed with people in the backseat or over big dips.
