hood wont open

hood wont open

so my hood wont open unless i pull up on the hood while someone else pulls the handle inside the car, am i missing a spring or something? stupid question but i have no1 else to ask

ok, so i googled this also, so all i have to do is grease the hood latch and clean out any debri inside?

Yes. Work the latch open and closed with a friend while periodically spraying a lubricant on the latch. This usually does the trick. Regular maintenance usually prevents this. Hood, doors, and trunk. Give a few sprays every few months.

yeah, but if its to far gone, new ones arent that expensive

I'm assuming that will work and you won't need this thread anymore.

With that said I don't think my issue warrants its own thread lol.
My trunk will only open if someone crawls in it and pulls the lever inside. I greased up the parts and still nothing. I push the button on my key and everything moves the same (tiny) amount that the lever inside moves it... I need a new latch? Price?

did you try to get to it from under neath the car? I had this problem once on 98 corolla and this was the only way to do it without damaging the hood or grill.

Also may want to check the condition of the hood release cable to make sure it is not broken or stretched in any way, preventing the latch from even functioning ... if needed I do have the hood release cable for sale in my sale thread http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...arts-sale.html
