Rsolved! : Engine Hesitation: videos included: Experts pls step in

01 gle all stock except for recently added WSP y-pipe. About 199700 miles.

Car feels good after the ypipe, but i am noticing some issues.

To start with earlier this week I got the SES for P0138 and P0139.

Back in 09 I had done the non-fouler trick on the front(radiator) bank post cat O2 sensor when I had the P0430.

The videos below will tell you exactly what is happening.

Video 1:
startup from standstill: Car revs up fine, goes all the way to 6K and feels just fine. I hv a feeling from the sound that the MAF is ok and the VIAS is functioning ok. ignore the SES I basically disconnected both secondaries.

video 1

Video 2:
Car accelerating from low speed: Car starts to rev up and then suddenly at about 3500 you see the rpms begin to hesitate almost like its going to shift, my foot is pushing on the gas pedal so i am not expecting a shift but even then it goes on to about 4500 and shifts. I am pushing as though I want to see the car go to about 5K before shifting. Not pedal to metal but almost there.

video 2

Video 3:
Now this third one is also a similar situation as video 2 but I push the pedal all the way down and I see no void spot at the 3500 mark. I would love it if she pushed like that all the time... but I see the differences as seeing in the above videos.

video 3

Here are my thoughts:
1. New front precat since that maybe clogged enough to cause this.
2. MAF? car is still on the 1st maf... yes I know my car is unique LOL
3. O2 sensor? maybe the rear bank(firewall) got messed up during y pipe install? I hv a code but its for the secondary so I dont think this maybe the case.

however, pls note that before the Ypipe went in I didnt have this issue at all. It was really bad once I got the ypipe in, but kind of reduced big time when I replaced the main cat with a test pipe.

Any pointers? Thoughts? Where should I start?

Well, checked out the tps and it turned out to be fine.
I did find some slack in the accelerator pedal wire so readjusted that.
Car did get very responsive and the hesitation around 3200 did go down some.

New question....
What is the difference between the swirl control valve and the VIAS setup? Are they the same or independent? I ask coz the fsm mentions the swirl control valve functioning right around the RPMs I have the hesitation at.

Was not the TPS... not the coils...
Turned out to be the MAF... got a MAF from a buddy's i30 and the car revs smoothly throughout!
I will put up the after video...
Thread can be used as a MAF symptom thread!
