Im new to the list. I just left down a deposit for a 2002 6 Speed SE. For the past week, I was tying to decide between the Max and the WRX. I see that several other have also been comparing these two. Well, after test driving both, I decided on the Max. The Max is waaaaay more comfortable, less wind noise, engine noise and a smother suspension. Definitely the more luxurious of the two. The Max has waaaaay more power down low (below 3500 rpm). There's no need to downshift all the time. The Max handles better on the staight away. It felt more secure at high speeds on the highway. The WRX handles much better in the tight stuff, the 5 speed was a little smoother than the Max's 6 speed, but not a big difference. The WRX is a little more fun to drive because it more flickable in the turns, has no torque steer (although the SEs torque steer wasnt too bad) and uses 4 wheel drive. In the end I went with the Max because of its comfort, torquey engine, looks and proven reliability. I also got a great deal $24300 + tax, including sunroof, matts, mud guards and wind deflector. I also got .9% financing for 36 months. I cant wait to pick her up next week. Im trading in my 98 Grand Prix GTP Coupe which was fast and handled well, but the Max is faster and handles better.
