I was wondering what you guys have been doing to clean your nwp spacers after removal for reinstallation. I have my upper and lower manifold off in prep to move over to my 04 engine.

I have a gasket scrapper and accetone. Its one PITA to get all this crap off.
Any suggestions?

What do you guys think about a fine wire wheel drill attachment?

I wouldn't use the wheel. I use MEK and a lexan scraper on phenolic. Does Aaron not have info in the instructions?

Methyl Ethyl Ketone, fairly potent organic solvent. Acetone's evil cousin.

I just use a fine scotch brite pad. Takes about 2-3 minutes. Just don't get overzealous with it and it's no problem.

A scotch brite pad/wheel for a rotary tool also works well if you don't over do it.

Correct. It causes the kanzer! Use solvent gloves and a well-ventilated area. Works very well, though.

Yea drop a spider into the stuff. You'll see how evil the stuff can be. BTW it's also a good way to find every little nick and scratch in your skin.

As for the cancer angle, so does being alive. As long as you aren't bathing in the stuff you'll be fine with occasional use.

Did you use the chlorinated? Many brake cleaners are now non-chlorinated and don't work as well as a solvent.

Use proper gloves with (nitrile) that stuff if absorbed into your skin, it has been linked to cause liver/kidney cancer! I've been using it since 1987 and it's really some good stuff, but make sure you have plenty of ventilation, it did kill a coworker of mine inside an aircraft tailboom cleaning the interior without proper ventilation back in 1989...be careful guys!

Not really sure. I had three different brands and none of them worked. Acetone worked a little but took forever.

Mine popped off cleanly. If I were to reinstall, I'd just add another thin coat and slap em back on. The ultra black rtv held them on there like super glue. It's going to seal, regardless. If not a razor blade or solvent can fix it, regardless.

Yes, you're crazy.

It's a cake walk. Take everything off like normal to remove IM, then take a rubber mallet and smack until you break the seal, then carefully pry it off.

Some of the guys don't RTV and use the actual IM gasket on each side. So, you can clean it off and do that, clean it off and reRTV or pop it off cleanly and just add a thin layer on top of the existing RTV.
