Same here, all the TL-S and CL-S's I have seen only run a 15.2.

My best friend has a 2001 White SE 5 speed, and even before I got my headers, I used to take him out off the line all the time (by about 2 1/2 car lengths to 100 MPH). The TL-S is definitely quicker than a 5 speed max off the line from my experiences. Now with the Comptech Headers, I just flat out **** on him off the line. However, the Max 5 speed has some great pull after 110 MPH that I'm even impressed with.

Oh yea, I'll save you guys the time......My DVD Navigation adds moe horsepower than the headers. If I only had CD Nav, like the 2k2 Max, I would have only had modest hp gains.

The key for you 5 speed max's is to find TL-S's without navi.

Of course a TL-S is going to beat a 2K automagic, but not a 5spd....Your friend must not be launching off the line too well - we have a 2K SE 5spd and a 2K2 TL-S in our garage (no mods on either). Even my wife admits that her TL-S isn't as quick off the line as the Max. It does have nicer leather, wood trim (albeit fake), 6 disc indash and gets an almost obscene 30 mpg on hwy trips. The best I've even gotten with the Max is 26.5.

They're both great cars, but the max is quicker - that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The great thing about this thread is that I used to have a TL. The 2K2 Maxima and 2K2 TL-S are equal in everything but performance, in which the Max slaughters the TL-S. My cousin has a TL-S with headers and AEM cai and I still beat him at the track. He did run a 14.59 once and every other time 14.7's. Not bad, but not as fast as my Max. BTW, he has a nav too! When people talk about TL-S's hitting anything better than 14.9-15.0, my cousin and I just laugh because we know what really happens when I race his modded TL-S.

Peace,
Daniel

You guys have seen a TL or CL at the track? I've only seen old ladies driving TL/CLs and they're motor skills are long gone to even be actively involved in a race...let alone go to a drag strip.

Easy on the ol' lady jokes...my wife drives our TLS, and she's not that old....

She surprises me occasionally with a flurry of tire burning and profanity when some idiot cuts her of in the TL. She used to drive a '97 Max SE 5 spd, but got sick and tired of shifting in rush hour traffic

Guy across the street has a TLS, too (copycat) - he's in his mid 30's also. Remember that the Max demographic is 48 yr old male.....

Deal with it
The fastest a 2001 Maxima AE with differential manual could do is 6.7second at 50feet above sealevel. 15.4 1/4

The fastest a 2002 TL-S could do 6.2second at 100ft sealevel. 14.7 1/4

what magazine time or g-tech did you pull that 0 - 60 from?

and why are you comparing a 2001 car with a 2002 car? why don't you compare the 2002 Maxima?

Oooppps, my fault, according to autoweek, the TL-S (unfortunetly) only did 0-60 in 6.42seconds. Though, still quicker than the Maxima at 6.7second.

I have to agree with u too, and personally i think the typeS or regular TL is a better car, but it doesnt have a stick, otherwise i woulf of got one.

Unless the person driving the Acura wasn't really trying. Again, let me say that both are very nice cars. There are things I like better on my Maxima and things I like better on my Acura.

I wish I could merge the best aspects of toyota/honda/nissan. I could use the toyota auto tranny (live in a crowded city), the nissan VQ and honda suspension. Or I could just get a bimmer

I say the Nissan's VQ, the Toyota's reliability and resale value, Honda's manual transmission. Add to that

My 2 cents. I have raced both (the type S more frequently since a good bud has one) and both cars more or less are equivilent at speed up to about 100 where the od gears on the Tl/Cl hurt it's top end. 0-100 is pretty close to me(I am talking about autos). I guess the 6-speed Max vs the 2003 6-speed Cl will be the next big race.

Personally, I'd get the Max before either. Acura says luxury but does not MEAN it to me. But they are all great cars.

if your car can do faster than magazine times, so can the TL-S owners!

Merry Christmas!

now go to the TL/Cl boards and ask how many people have gotten magazine times STOCK. You'll find that only a small portion has

Merry Christmas

Some guys on the tl board said those type s times were acheived using headers. But I can agree it is a mid 6 sec 0-60 car. 0-60 in 6.2, not likely.
