3.0 in a 5.5?
Buddy of mine swears up and down that he had a 5.5 come into his shop but it had the vq30 in it..

Were there any early 5.5 produced with a 3.0?

Production date was Nov. 2001

With a November 2001 build date its not........that would make it an 02. Probably made it to dealerships by Jan of 02. Maybe it was an an accident and not being observant they replaced the motor with a 3.0 early in its life or the guy just don't know what he is talkn' about....

I always thought early 02's were DE-K's while 02.5 were 3.5's.....

maybe a complete front and end swap for 5.5gen?

did he notice interior difference or just outside?

Most probably , he went throught an 02 with 3.5 engine and no engine cover , it might look to some people like the 3.0L engine...
And my maxima is built 10/01 and I guess it's 3.5 but might need that buddy to look at it for me just to be sure.......

My first '02 was the 91st one build according to the VIN and had a June 01 build date. VQ35.

He is some what knowledgeable about cars but this was at a Volvo dealership...

He said it had the newer Nissan burger on the trunk, newer font style badging, 02-03 tails, fatter turnsignal and wiper switches, even straight down to the "amb" button wasnt on the climate control...

Will people go that far for just a 5.5 look?

Why is this thread still active?

2000-2001 were 3.0
2002-2003 were 3.5

No exceptions, no confusion on manufacture dates.

Whatever he saw, doesn't matter, and without pics, this thread sucks.

Well I'm sorry that this thread sucks..

I my self have had my 5.5 since it was off the show room floor...
Previous car before that was a 3rd gen and that was my freshmen days in high school..

Been a proud member of the forum for 6 years and wasnt expecting to get bashed for a question that i didn't know the answer too..

Again, sorry it sucks when people ask questions...
