Minor issue with my Cattman exhaust
Driving the car last night it got dramatically loud and I could feel something through the floorboard. Guess the exhaust wanted to match the rust on the wheel wells.

Take a picture of the entire bpipe please! T304 nor T409 corrodes like that! That might be something you modded onto your Cattman exhaust.....I've had T409 on my Hardbody for almost 10 yrs and it barely has any surface corrosion yet!

Ya, he probably just welded the rust on there...

On closer inspection, you're right. You can see what looks like peeling of the galvanization. And the horizontal lines where it hasn't rusted yet also looks like aluminized.
If it was SS the rusting would gradually taper off and not have an abrupt line. I retract my earlier post

I can guarantee that Cattman exhaust piping is SS and that picture is Aluminized steel.....T409 will get surface corrosion but that obviously was rotted thru.....please post a picture of your entire Bpipe or catback......I guarantee that's a OEM Bpipe or a modded Cattman bpipe in which it's front flange section was replace with a aluminized steel section.....Even though I'm in Texas I've had mufflers on my 86.5 HB last about 2 yrs maximum back when I uesd Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers, they rusted from the inside out.....So I'm sure this isn't a Cattman exhaust until the Original poster generates a full picture of his alledged Cattman Exhaust!!!!!!

After looking closer and racking my memory (I've given up on caring about this car for a while now) I remembered that I only installed the Cattman rear section so the rust was actually on the OEM b-pipe. I got the repair done today, but there is still a really loud exhaust noise (leak would be my guess) up by the engine. I REALLY HATE putting money into this car and if it weren't paid off and I was paying for a wedding right now, it would be gone in a heartbeat.
at CMax03 for his very strong opinions of this issue and his demand for me to provide proof. I now remember why I relinquished my Super-Mod position and abandoned this wretched site.

Pretty quick to jump on Cattman, but once again, not a faulty Cattman product.

its metal bro.... getting wet and hot on different days for sooo many years can cause that... aint no metal in destructable... sure its bad but this doesnt affect the durability for the catman exhaust not one bit to me... not really a hige deal though... exhaust shop and that should do... im sure this is the OP's daily and iirc he has had this setup for more than 5 yrs... anything can happen man, its an aged setup

My T409 SS 2.25" Catback has been in service for nearly 10 yrs on my Hardbody pickup and it has a little surface rust that can be removed with steel wool or a wire brush.....that exhaust was ate up all the way thru........that's not quite the same!
GH17 your SS silverware @ your house rust like that too????? LOL...My T304,T409, Titanium, and silverware is practically indestructible!!!!!

Are you trying to go out your way to make a point to find a metal that is "practiclly" indestructable? This was in context to exhaust, if u wanna go that far out, well we can... you can bend or break the silverware and the metal become so week that when you even try to get ice cream the metal just ben, silverware destroyed but what's that got to do with a catback, I bet the rust started from the bolts and ate its way through...
