Awesome universal muffler...

For those of you who have looked at this muffler on eBay. I have one exactly like it. Very nice tone, nothing "obnoxious" and great looks. I painted the body on mine high temp flat black. The resonated tips do a great job of cutting down on noise.
I bought mine "NON" auction.
The gentelman has several on a bid list right now...

Enjoy.

Yeah hard to stomach for some who here this. The deal is this; I had my fun, yeah it was a "COBRA"(hisss), and yeah I liked it while i had it; for the most part. The payment, and the fact that other than a special all aluminum 281cid 32V OHC motor, special paint job and several model specific body parts, it was just another mustang .
The best part is that I don't have a car payment, or any other criedt payments. I've bought some land to build a house and I'm moving on with my life. The MAXIMA suits me just fine, I always wanted it since my family bought it new in 91', and the MAXIMA is there to sooth my modification tendencies. Now as I have said to friends and relatives, I'm not totally out of the HOT ROD game, just on Sports car "stand by". Slightly used Boost is on the horizion, and a two wheel phenomenom as well.
Can you say 90ZTT and R6?

I only have a 1991 SE MAXIMA 5speed right now. the R6 is most likely next unless by divine intervention this 90ZTT I am looking at comes down about $2-$3K.
I personally don't like the 5th GEN, it has too many cosmetic issues. Motor/transmission and Technology wise I like it; suspension/cosmetic wise I do not like it. I would however buy one based on quality.

Hmm, I don't see the word "muffler" there anywhere, just a lot of "straight through" parts! Isn't this why that setup is loud??

Hey all, would this muffler fit on a 5th gen? If not, does anyone know a good muffler mod with dual exhausts like this one, except with square edges. Any information would be great.

Hey Hogan, do you have a picture of that set-up? I'd be curious to see what it look like.

P.S: BTW I will check if my bank is open today, otherwise do you think paypal would be a good way to send you the M/O for the Y-Pipe ?.

When are you moving to CA ?

Cheers

Double A ( anxious to get that Y-Pipe )

One other question...what would a muffler like this add in HP and what would be the best muffler to get that would add the most HP?

Hey 2000Max827, no muffler alone will give significant improvment in term of hp gain, I think it is in the range of 2-3 hp for the muffler itself, if you put a Y-Pipe, intake, Hi-Flow Cat, custom B-Pipe, and a good muffler, then it is maybe around 20-25 HP gain. When you want serious gain then you look for juice or S/C.

P.S: I am going to order this muffler soon, remove the resonator and replace by custom SS pipe, I just bought Yo_its_ok Y-Pipe, he he, getting ready for spring mods

Cheers

Thanks for the info man...I appreciate it. Good luck with your car and maybe eventually I will add all that to my car...=)...but for now I will probably just get a muffler with square tips for a nice look.

One thing to remember as a generalized rule of designing exhaust, is that it's usually a trade-off.

Free-flowing open pipes, glasspacks, resonators-only, and straight through mufflers will give the most power, but will be LOUD.

A quiter system using big, baffled mufflers (or OEM mufflers) with resonators will be much quieter, but won't give ultimate performance.

Personally I'd default to this last setup because I drive my car to work everyday and won't use those 10 or so extra horses a hardcore system might buy, but WILL go nuts from the noise. But it's up to you what your priorities are of course.

Aren't ALL mufflers "smog legal"??? I thought you could do anything you wanted behind the cats, but not infront of them.

Hey Mr Rose, Bryan at autoperformance was nice enough to sell my the muffler for 100$ + 15$ for shipping. At e-bay I was outbid by a weirdo who got it for 125$ + shipping, they were asking 124$ for a non auction purchase, some people needs neurones upgrade, but anyway I got it for a better price at the end, so thanks for bringing informative infos here.

Cheers
