ELM327 OBD II scanner, Any software recommendations ?
So,
I bought this on ebay because i need something cheap (i guess its a fake ?)
What is a good software i can use with it ? Any free. I know people on the forum have probably used this same one, without any problems. (or if there are let me know !)
Thanks !
Also, Is there a way to re-map the ECU using this tool ?
Thanks

Personally I use Torque which is available on Android phones. I have heard good things about Dynolicious on the iPhone platform though. Haven't used mine with any PC based apps yet.
As for remapping the ECU I haven't seen anything out there nor would I trust a $30 gizmo to not brick my ECU.

For an eBay scanner (and I guess is the same type of ELM327 clone I have), I've tried the software that came with the scanner, in that little CD. If you don't have it, it can be easily found on the web.
From those, EasyOBD works fine. It's a little slow, but does the job. What I like the most of it is that it checks the status of the tests (like Heated O2 sensor tests, Cat test, etc.)

I use linux in my laptop, and I found a version of the Scantool.net that works awesome. It's also available for windows, but it refuses to work with clones. You can give it a try.

For Macs, no idea.
Regarding ECU remap, I don't think so. AFAIK that's not part of the OBD-II protocol.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I got the CD with it. Easy OBD seems like the best one, Scantool.net is trash because it doesnt work with it. I bet you can find a older version of scantool that probably works with the clone.
The scanner works great, it was def worth it, and easy obd lets you see the status of alot of things, so i was able to figure out that my O2 wasnt shot, i drove with the scanner connected, drove for about 30 miles and saw the voltages and O2s working fine.
Great stuff ! but i still want a diff software.
