timing tensioners

i got a bad cam chain tensioner and this job calls for 12hrs. i know alldata is usually b/s on labor times and theres usually a short cut.
does anyone know if u lay the timing cover to the side if there is enough room to get to the cam chain tensioners

You have to fully remove the timing cover to replace the tensioners. It will fit out with the engine in the car it's just tight.

If you're gonna do all that just replace the chain guides, tensioners, sprockets, all of it..........and be done with it!!!! Laying the timing cover sounds like a good way to warp it and it will never be seal tight after you lay it to it's side.......

For a VQ30 yes, I bought one a few years back for my 95 for about 180 or so.

The VQ35 has the lovely CVTC sprockets and associated assemblies on the I side.

i want to know the same. my maxima has 132k miles. i hear no rattle noise or anything like that. so i figure my timing chain is still good and tight.

You've got the right idea.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
