I realize I'm reviving an ancient thread.
I just did the bypass.
This pic is post-bypass and shows one hose looped back into the cooling system:
When I pulled off the original hose from the place shown in the photo, some black liquid came out of the hose, not the aluminum tube. It wasn't much, maybe a tablespoon. I'm not sure if it was contaminated coolant or what. When I flushed the coolant, it looked immaculate, no sign whatsoever of contamination.
I blew out the coolant lines in the plenum with compressed air then plugged both ports by looping the remaining hose from the in port to the out port.
Any ideas what this might have been?
