I saw a thread in the 6th gen forum about an oil cooler leaking. I assumed the auto trans oil cooler but when I read the thread, it was for the engine oil. Just learned something new.

Anyway, it seems that the oil leak is because of a bad o-ring seal and Nissan has a service bulletin about it, NTB06-29.

The service bulletin says it applies to the 2000-2003 Maxima as well as other Nissan models. My car, an early production 2000, doesn't have that and I don't recall reading any posts in the 5th gen forum about this. So I'm curious. Is it on the 5.5 gen? Or did it start on the later production 5.0?

Post # 10 has a drawing of the oil cooler. The first 9 posts are essentially flaming the op. I found the service bulletin throught a link in post # 9.

Check in your engine bay if you got that oil engine cooler. I'm watching right now the FSM of the 5th gen Maxima and it's not show in it. If you check the recall it says that it applies to 2000-2003 Maximas too, but I ignore what trim level got that OEC (Oil Engine Cooler). Anyway, it sounds like a nice upgrade for the VQ30DE
