yep if your hood struts are weak that can cause it, but if they hold up your hood theyre fine. check the front latch with the hood closed not moving and see if you can wiggle the hood

should the hood have a slight move if moved by hand when in closed position or it should not move at all ?

Mine does the same thing. My guess was the cushions too, because I couldn't find any adjustments. Anybody have a fix for this other than new cushions?

To address air flow/pressure under the hood, Nissan sells a rubber weatherstrip kit that fits into the groove of the headlights. It's like $17 for the pair. They look pretty good, too.

Looks sexy over the headlights. I just ask for the Weatherstrip kit with the dealer?

I suppose so. Describe it to them and they should be able to figure it out.

If you search the Org, you'll find the actual part number... somewhere. I know I've seen it a few times.

I had the same problem few months back on my 2000. Solved it by replacing the hood bumpers. Bought them from a dealer for less than $10.

I think Cmax03 made a thread about the hood vibration or somebody with bolts and spacers then the black rubber piece on top of it haven't done it yet just bust the ghetto fab with black electrical tape a couple times over the latch hook on the hood good for a moment.....

I have an 03 with the same issue and feel that it's on Nissan, not me, I notice however the service bulletin is only covering 01-02 Maximas..

My car used to do the same thing so i took those two rubber absorbers behind the headlights and loosened them up a couple turns so they raised up and now it keeps just enough pressure on the hood where it doesn't shake on the highway.Free mod

I had the same issue as well but it was my whole hood moving up and down at highway speeds. My issue turned out to be that the main hood latch support had rotted away at the bottom from the lower rad support as well as the rad support itself. It can't hurt to take the 10 minutes and pull your splash guards off and check out your lower rad support. Our cars are horrible for rad supports rotting out.

I'm actually in the process of a) getting it grinded out and get some metal welded in there. Or b) buying a new radiator support. Any opinions on which idea may b better? (My bass makes my hood vibrate)
Also, is there a way to prevent it from happening again?

My '02 Altima does the same thing. I tried adjusting the rubber stoppers on the hood, but they don't like to stay in the position you adjust them to.

The hood vibrates from my exhaust at idle and then after a while the hood latch starts squeaking loudly, lol. hit it with some WD-40 and it goes away for a few months.

Either of your two options will work. Replacing your whole rad support will likely cost a lot more at a shop due to increased labor but would be the more "ideal" route to go. If you are going to be doing it yourself than labor $ isn't an issue. Reinforcing it will work just fine as long as its done properly and all welds are good. As far as further prevention goes when you have it oil sprayed make sure they get up in there to protect it. Hope all works out well for ya.

Yeah it was Me with a really good fix for that! Using a couple of carriage bolts and washers, 4 nuts and 2 pipe protective tips

Before I got my CF hood, my stock hood used to do that as well. I took some electrical tape and just wrapped it around the hook a few times. Gave it a snug fit in the latch assembly and no more shakey shakey.

I35 comes with weather stripping attached to the hood that covers the top of the headlights.

I did the same thing. If you close the hood and press down on it some more, the hook is whats makes the noise, for me at least. i put electrical tape and it worked for meee

There's the part numbers for the weather strips for each side that I found from doing a search on here. The TSB doesn't mention 2003's but mine has some nice vibration going on at highway speeds as well so I'm going to look into these strips.

In the Maxima SE 01 it's the same situation. I was checking my car and I found that weather strips attached to the hood too. It only got a gap for the ram intake

Yeah it seems to me the bulk of the maximas had them stock, but on the 2000-2003 it was an option? Not sure, but most cars I have driven aren't this bad. Removing the Front air snorkle can't help either, I'd be tempted to get 3 of them and install one in the old location. I think I'll try that.

guys this is a known issue. its the rubber grommets on either corner of the hood on the top of the headlights.
rotate them counter clockwise to raise them, if they are worn out replace them.
make sure you dont rotate too much or they will come out

My little setup cost lest than $5 and will outlast that stock crap 3-4 times longer....they're made to fit on seat leg bottoms and are made to resist wear from pressured contact!!!! Oh yeah as for that tape on the hook it won't make 6 month without screwing with it!

I added the rubber headlight seals and they stopped my vibration problem completely.
