Need some help with a strange problem.......

I parked the car, shut her off and left her for about 20 minutes. I come back out and try to start her, but all I get is a quick screeching noise and then nothing. I get a jump about 40 minutes later and she starts right up, but now my keyless entry, power door locks and rear defroster don't work. I check my fuse panel inside the car and find 2 fuses for the defroster, but none for the door locks. I'm assuming that the keyless entry is tied in to that. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? Thanks.

Did you search in the Engine Bay?

If I remember well the keyless entry it's in the engine bay area.

You are addressing the battery/alternator issue as well, correct?

Fuses 12 & 13 in the dash (both 10 amp) are for the door locks. Under the hood by the battery is a 10 amp fuse labeled anti-theft.

But the only thing that I can think of that has the door locks and the rear window defogger in common is the SECU (Smart entrance Control Unit). There are a lot of fuses that feed the SECU. Check fuse 10.

Changed the 2 fuses for the defogger, no dice. I was hoping it would be something simple. Where is the SECU located?

Under the dash- drivers side-near center console.

There's a picture of it somewhere on the forums here....

After reading this, I go out to my car. Keyless entry is still not working. I put the key in and start it and D/L's and defogger are still not working. I shut the car off, leaving the key in the ignition. I check the fuses in 10, 12 and 13. All of them are good. As I reinsert the fuse in 13, I hear the key-in-ignition warning chime. Now everything works. Go figure. I am going to get the starter and battery replaced this week. Thanks to everyone for their help.

The starter was the reason this problem began, it hesitates when I try to start the car in the morning. After that it seems to work fine. Rather not take any more chances with it. The battery looks old, I have no idea when it was replaced last. Now is as good of a time as any.

Try replacing the battery first, the starter might be fine.
